They ate letting use use straight wall cartridges during muzzleloader. BTW I don't know why I typed sophisticated in my original post. Brain farther I guess.
Picked up a Henry Frontier 22 mag octagonal 20" barrel. Holds 12 mildy spicy rounds in the tube mag. Actually my first lever gun. Also another "slightly" more powerful firearm before the August 1 chit show began!!! Not a lever gun though. BTW, living in Massachusetts SUCKS!!!
I agree. Don't know why they want to change unless it's to get more people in the woods. I'll still hunt with my muzzleloader, but will take the 454 also.
Love lever guns! Have a newer (<10yrs) Marlin 336 in 30.30. Have 2 deer in freezer with it this year. Anyone looking for a factory load ( I was) be sure to checkout the Fed Fusion 170grs…. Have been good performers. My dad has the Savage also in .308. Quite a beauty but the narrow stock makes that Savage savage on a shoulder! My truck gun is also a Winchester 94 Ranger I believe in 44mag. It is the short carbine version with the rounded hoop ( think the Rifleman or Rio Bravo). Holds 10 250gr Win Razorbacks so I’m not waiting for simeone to force the door… has the 18” barrel I think so it’s a short little package..Really enjoy this thread.
Model 94 in 44mag that was flood damaged from a hurricane. I gave it brand new stainless Winchester barrel and mag tube , I cerakote the receiver charcoal green. The bolt, lever, screws, etc, midnight blue . Im embarrassed to admit I haven't shot it. probably feed it mostly cast 44spl when i start.
lol, I forgot one! I have a Henry in 22. Sweet shooting lil unit that is surprisingly accurate on “just the irons”.
An abomination.......imo. I have no use for "modern" leverguns of any type. I do own many "traditional" Henry levers and like em very well, so I don't doubt these are very nice pieces.... in their own right.
The only interesting thing... to me anyways...is they are in true rifle calibers. .223/5.56 and 300 Blackout
The browning's are interesting lever guns. They easily make use of a scope if you want, detachable box mag and they come in more unique calibers 7-08 rem and 358 win to name just a few. There is a plastic gear inside , but ive never heard of one failing.
I gotta admit.... for a non traditional rendering, they do look pretty good. And yeah, the caliber thing has its benefits I guess... personally I like the old straight wall cartridges so it's a non issue to me.
