We used to make them here in NC. Better than chicken dumplings in my opinion.

It might have been interesting competition with Judy. One summer she picked off 96 chipmunks! I was proud of her.

Does it take 96 to make a decent meal? :D

That number would make only half a meal. You would need to combine them with something like fish to have a full meal of fish and chipmunks! :grizz: I'm sure you would need at least twice that number for a breathtaking winter chipmunk fur coat!

    Squirrel pot pie!

I've seen more gray squirrels hunting this year then any year before. Friends have said the same. Luckily none in the stacks that I know of.

I was thinking with all the new hobby, backyard, chicken farmers around if the Hawks have gotten fat and lazy eating chickens. I have fat gray squirrels all over my lot and was wondering why the hawks aren’t plucking them up.

Still not too many grey squirrels around here. We had a few in the house but those got shot.

    I tried squirrel stew once.

I'm thinking it was made from all male squirrels as it had a nutty flavor to it.  :rofl:

You are not that far from right, Brad. When it comes to huevos, squirrels are in a class all their own!:bug:I have never eaten "Oak Tree Oysters" but knew some who kept them with the rest of the meat along with the head (brains). :picard:

I use a bucket trap. One in the basement and another in the shop.

A friend of mine who grew up in Louisiana always talked about squirrel gravy and cat heads biscuits.

In the town of Lincoln Ne there are black fox squirrels. Pretty common in the town, not sure how big of area they occupy.
