If I didn't have a clock on the wall and the computer in front of me to confirm, I'd swear it's past 11 pm. Nope, only 8 pm now.

Lake Superior is a powerful beast. Love to see it in person some day.

It is a big lake, with no tides, seaweed, or saltwater smell. I was brought up near the Atlantic Ocean, and I lived near Lake Superior for a while. Both are nice, the ocean is like home to me. I still live but a fourth mile from tidewater. I don't care to go out in a boat, I just like to enjoy it from the shore.

It's actually classified as an inland sea.
I do want to take my big boat out on it, the Apostle Islands are spectacular.

We're actually planning a trip with our buddies and their 24.5' boat to go on a lake Michigan/ door county WI multi day multi port/mooring trip this summer. One of these days we'll get to Superior with the boat(s)

Lake Superior holds 13% of the worlds fresh water all by itself...all combined the great lakes hold about 20% of the worlds fresh water

Today's shop project is a simple coat rack. Just waiting on the hooks to deliver.

You are an artist woodworker. I very much enjoy reading about your projects. I hope you can take some budding woodworkers under your wing and guide them with your artistry. Such valuable skills need to be passed on and not lost to time.

Thanks for the kind words but you give me too much credit. The stuff I make is pretty simple. There are far better woodworkers out there.

Chances are that I am not the only one here that firmly believes their wood working tool of choice is a chainsaw, and not one for carving.:saw::saw::saw::stacker::stacker::stacker:

Caffeine! Dump run this morning. Then the chore of cleaning out the camp begins a little at a time. Since it is warm out, now 46.

that sounds like a good time.

I'm used to the salt water too, but that's part of why the lakes intrigue me. They're different (and by no means calmer). From all the pictures I've seen, the landscape surrounding them is also similar enough, and different enough, from ours to pique my interest.

We have, I'm thankful to say, saltwater galore and more ponds and small lakes than I'd care to count, but nothing comparable to any of the great lakes. Certainly, very few lakes anywhere in the world could be. What large lakes (in normal lake terms), we do have are near our west coast, and I have yet to see that in person as well.

I'd also love to visit the infamous Loch Ness, Loch Lomond, and many other parts of Scotland for that matter.

What I noticed was the absence of smell near the great lakes. Having grown up on the Pacific coast, salt air smell is very distinctive and when you see such a large body of water, I expected subconsciously to smell it. I noticed on the eastern shores of Nova Scotia and somewhat in Newfoundland where the shore is rocky, that smell was as noticeable as I would have thought.

Caffeine going down. Today I’ll be continuing the cleaning out of the old camp. My wife is then organizing everything from it into the house or I am putting it into detached garage, for eventual use by kids or sale of it. Talk about getting a workout in! I Yi Yi. I probably got 65-70% of it done yesterday. But then the rain started off and on so I quit to rest and go to care for my Mom. Hopefully I can get the rest done today.

You hoarders have a good day and do something fun!
