After searching, I was not able to determine the material Stihl used to make these bar covers. If I had to guess maybe some type of vinyl maybe. Any info would be appreciated. This is bar cover that came on a recently acquired Stihl S 10 saw. upload_2024-12-16_20-8-32.jpeg

For sure it's some type of plastic, although what type would be very hard to tell.
    AI says:
    • HDPE: Durable high-density polyethylene (HDPE) can protect against extreme weather and blade wear
    • Polyethylene: A plastic material that can be used to make chainsaw scabbard liners
    • Copolymer: A copolymer can be used to make chainsaw scabbards for use with bucket trucks and aerial lifts

Thanks for the info, I did not realize that they were that rare. Mine is not that nice. It shows a lot of wear. However I will clean it up when I clean the saw.

Did you ever get an old saw to restore?

    No not yet.

I had this Stihl S10 passed on to me but is not really old enough for my liking as a restoration project, so I plan on making it a runner just because ; well I can so why not.
Might be something different if we ever have another GTG or something like that.
Still looking for a project saw in the meantime.

I got a plain red one like that somewhere. I think it even has a tie strap on it IIRC (Echo used to do this with theirs which were black). Short...like 14 inch I think. No idea where it came from.

As you know how I have a habit of stuff finding me so let me know and who's knows what could cross my path.

Few years back I got a circa late 60's 80cc McCulloch that I gave to M2theB for fixing one of my saws.

If you could keep it in the back of your head in case, you stumble onto something that would be great. Older the better.
I do no FB or any of that type of thing, so it does sort of limit my options a bit.

I've had two Homelite versions. I should have kept them. I do have a brand new Remington mighty mite soft case and a used hard case.
