Been a long time coming. Wanted to replace the original bay in the shed where I store my bundle wood for a year now. Too small and low and I tire of stooping and hitting my head. Finished tearing it down today. With three bays I'll have one I'm filling, one drying and one I'm emptying. Addition will be 10 x 8.5' and hold an extra four cords. Im currently emptying the far left bay of wood that's over a year CSS. Middle bay has drying wood to get organized and restacked. Ill update as the build progresses. Ive scrounged enough reclaimed lumber for both. (I hope) Also building a 5 x 8 addition on the far left. Its capacity will be an extra 1.5 cords. General cordage and/or smoker wood may end up in there.
Nice progress. Is that original bay on the right what used to be a shed? I think I remember the thread.

Looking good Brad! What kind of wood fired appliance do you heat with? Do you supplement or heat entirely with the wood you cut and dry?
That is the problem with sheds for wood you need to make them expandable they always seem to keep growing !!!!
Like a garage/shop, I have 6 bays and could use one more. When I built the shop I aligned it perfectly with the garage, the plan being when, not if, I needed one more I would close in between them and add another garage door. I have all the metal already for the roof and back, the front will be 90% garage door so it should blend in. Old pic all the pavers are done now.
The house we live in has no fireplace or stove so most of the wood I hoard is sold. Up until 2010 when I moved in here I ran a Pacific Energy Summit model insert in my house for nearly ten years. Before that my apartment had a fireplace and before that mom and dad's houses (divorced) had fireplaces that were well used. So I grew up with fires always going in the cold. The landlord has said I could put a stove in the lower level, but when I ask how much the rent will go down he says it wont so there's no incentive. It would be rather easy as its tiled floor. Set a stove. run some pipe. I miss an indoor fire dearly especially after seeing pics of FHCers stoves/inserts etc.
Tell me about it! First really cold day of the Winter here and I cant tell you how much I miss opening the door and feeling the heat from a fire hit me in the face and/or crashing right on the floor in front of it and the cat comes over to enjoy the warmth too. So put a log on the fire for me...preferably black locust!
Well thats really nice. Clean and no piles of junk out there to make it an eye sore. Like you when I built my shop I thought it was huge at 26x30 , lets just say I now need an addition ; or two.
