I just got the piston and seals for the 291 I'm working on. I still have some clean up to do before assembly. I'll dress the bar and sharpen the chain for him also. The bar is burred pretty bad, you don't want to drop it around anything you don't want sliced up pretty good. Wicked burrs on it. I'm not a fan of used motor oil being used for bar oil... We're busy all the rest of this week so It'll probably be a few days before I can get back to it.
18" bar, Dukes full chisel, full comp 3/8 lp. 13-14" cherry. https://photos.app.goo.gl/LL9BmrVHhJnxwihx6
I just got the 028 back together. New 028 super top end, and while I was in there I replaced the impulse line and the crank seals. Ready to test it out soon on some dead red oak.
My new to me 501P. Came with an 18" Tsumura light bar and 3, full chisel woodland pro chains. 2 still in their boxes. Canadian made chains even. All Freeeeee.
It is spotless on the parts of the walls I can see. You can still see the machine marks when zooming in. That saw is a heavy use saw that has 100-150 tanks through it doing some ground work for an arborist and bunch of fire wood cutting. Ran on original Red Armor, Dolmar synthetic or Amsoil Dominator its whole life, with the majority of it RA and Dolmar oil @ 40:1.
Yeah I looked at it and was like there isn’t a single machining mark. Then I zoomed in and all was well. I’m getting a 501p here soon.
Watch that SuperClean on aluminum , it could turn it white on you. I tried it on some wheels a while back and it didn't turn out too good.
I've done several cylinders with it. It just made them darker in color. Never tried smooth or shiny aluminum though. I do have it diluted significantly.
