Finally got my off grid cabin woodstove figured out. First year...my wood wasn't dry enough...I paid all winter for that with stubborn cold fires..lots of coals and ash .
Second year I had really dry full length 15" wood. Burned great...but burned fast. Was constantly feeding it during the night.
Now..3rd season...I get it going on full length for awile....then put in 8" long..split bigger...Chucked bigger..front to back. Now ive got a longer lasting fire. Insulating has helped too. Slow going ...doing everything on my own in whatever spare time i have.
Cute little stove ..that once going a few hours..I have to throttle it way down..and take my shirt off lol !
Burning only cherry and maple here.
    Yes..I have a tv up here !!

It will be warmer and hold heat longer once you get wood over the insulation.

Nice little place! Glad you got it figured out. Sometimes experience is a good teacher.

Looks more grid adjacent than off grid but a good looking cabin either way.

Always a contrary person on the internet somewhere lol !
I don't usualy feel the need to justify anything I do...but according to the definition listed....its off grid .

Thank you ! I've been staying pretty quiet about it. Just plugging along with it. I'm slow as molasses these days..but it gives me a chance to really think abt long term options ...and self sustainability.
Is there a thread about such things already on here ?
    If not..maybe ill.start one.
    I'd love to see..and steal...other people ideas lol !

Family owns one on top of mountain; less fancy than yours a 2 car garage; no water, power.. technically a spring (water) fills a bathtub (fridge) and keeps it 38* but I digress.
    Slows as molasses is twice as fast as;
You’re slower than molasses moving uphill in January!!

That's awesome...and thanks for making me feel better abt my slowness lol !
Sounds like you have a great place up there ! Having water like that is pretty cool .
I've got this place wired up. Right now..I run..at idle...a little 2000 watt suitcase generator..and some solar.
My goal is to be solar and wind. But I can also function with no power of any sorts .

Seems there's as many overly sensitive people as contrary too. I was making a joke.
