Just sold a load to a new customer who said every firewood ad on fb is a scam. They said they gave up and tried something else. I’m not a fb’er so I don’t know, but thought it was interesting. They said most wanted $ Venmoed up front and wouldn’t say where they are located.
    Didn’t get a Benjamin but I did get a tip:makeitrain"

I sell a small amount of wood maybe 10 cord a year. Never asked for money before I arrived with the wood. In the six years since I started selling only once did I get paid before delivery. That was a repeat customer.

I certainly wouldn't buy anything like firewood sight unseen.

I've never taken payment in advance and strictly cash. I will take checks on occasion from regulars.

Absolutely. Doesn't matter what it is, that's just dumb.

I wouldn't say all FBM wood sellers are scammers, but it's certainly the right time for those that would attempt this BS.

Sign me up! My tip was a Benjamin
The guy looks like ex NFL or WWE, or just a successful roided dude. All that primo bark less red oak, so he can smoke cigars by the fire pit.

What’s wrong with that ??? I can’t say that I am super successful at anything or look like an nfl player or wwe guy but I do like to sit by the fire & have me a cigar.

nothing wrong with it. It’s the quality of the wood being used in the fire pit that gives me pause. A load of pine and poplar would have sufficed, but he said he liked the smell of burning oak. For what he paid he can do whatever he wants with it. I told him Hickory and Cherry smells great too.

Most of my advertising is on FB (and Google) and it's not at all uncommon to get paid up front. Granted, delivery is a small part of my business. Most of the firewood is picked up. People like the convenience of not needing to be home and have cash in hand. Granted, I have impeccable seller ratings and a great reputation. But this type of transaction probably happens more often than you think.
