Feels like spring at 62 this morning. Looks like spring too...grass has greened back up a lot. If I didn't know any better I'd say it was the middle of March.

Such a beautiful area! I ride my motorcycle up there on occasion. Sometimes, we do an overnight stay in Burlington. My great-uncle was once the outside plant manager for New England Telephone for all of VT. He lived in Burlington, and when I was in college, I stayed at his house and drove over to Stowe to ski. Those were the days in 1969. The skiing was great, but it got so cold up there.

It’s currently 15 degrees F here. The temp never got over 20 degrees today. Snow flurries all day.

I’m currently burning some primo Doug Fir. House is toasty at 74 degrees.

I was stacking some wood today and found this metal sticking out of a Doug Fir split. I didn’t notice it when I split it. It’s really jammed in there. I couldn’t pull it out with pliers. Any guesses what this is?

    Thanks!

    Love, Cash

It looks a little like a cheap metal spile that’s used to extract the sap out of maple trees during syrup season, but I can’t imagine fir trees making tasty syrup (Pine-Sol flavor anyone?) :picard:

With the inside temps this high, there is no need for a fire in the mornings.

That didn't last long. Today it's 40, windy, and raining. Supposed to be windy/rainy/snowy for the next 48 hours.

Boiler was about out of coals this morning so I put a good size load of mystery wood on there....some mix of box elder, hackberry, walnut, mulberry, and ash.

I've got two possible answers that are probably both wrong, lol!

#1 It might be a direct injection tube that was used for anything from a pesticide, fungicide or fertilizer.
#2 It might be the outer casing for a core sample kit.
    Those are my best guesses....
