About 90% white oak and a small red oak. Was a quick decision when I saw we had some oak that would need to be cut but not enough to haul for pulp. So I brought a trailer this mourning to pick it up. Again, loaded by a loader.
Nah cause it would of been left in the debris pile if I did not get it. This spot was a parking lot and a road clearing. It was just over 2 acres. We had 6 loads of pine saw timber to come off the area. This was just incidental hardwood. There was also one drag of pine pulp wood thats in the pile. For that volume of wood I am lucky to get someone to pay me to remove the logs. Getting 5 hardwood trees hauled to the mill will never happen. So I am here to swoop in and save them only to toss them into my stove in 3 years trust me I wasnt going to get paid for these trees no matter what. No wood was stolen here, dont worry about that PM me if u like and will give you details.
How great is this deal, cut, loaded, perfect size rounds and white oak... And a nice big pile of it too. Good day for sure.
Thats a friends trailer. Mine is 3 hours away at the farm...when I needed it. I have a tandem axle car hauler. But have hauled wood on it like this as well. Nice to have a friend in landscapping. Thats whoose dump truck i borrow as well.
Its amazing how quick a loader and buck saw can turn a few trees into manageable pieces on my trailer.
Nice catch, clemsonfor. In my book, white oak is right up there with black locust. Maybe a touch better because it smells good!
There a lot of crooked cuts. There cut with a hydro buck saw with like a 4ft bar. They just had the tree in the cradle crooked. I will look for pics of a similar setup to post. I did not take pics of this loaded so can't show you it unless I visit him on another job. He left my job as he was done and moved on.
Here is a pic of the same model bit not the saw they had...just a google image. This one has way more cradles in it. Looks as off it was used for hardwood that have more log lengths I think? They weld them at fixed distances so that they can but the log up to one and know that its say 16'6" or 14'6" or 12'6" for example. The crroked cuts are just cause the tree laid in that cradle crooked. The saw rests back in that verticle upright...you can see it if u look close.
Yep they live a mile away. About anything landscape related they have and I borrow as needed. We do lots for them so I really dont feel bad asking or borrowing.
