It's hard to realize that she has grown enough to move a truck. It has to be. You wouldn't want it otherwise. I am at that age where the years roll by like they were months in my younger life.

Whenever we get a dry day I guess I'll patch it up. I'm not concerned about cosmetics at this point, I'll be rebuilding the roof next year.

The shingles are only 5 years old, wondering if one was ripped off.

That's part of my excitment! My dream for her is to grab life by the reigns and fly with it, this seems like a good indication :) Yes, I've met kids like that, was making conversation with one and assumed it was nice question "so what are you up to?, College or work?" Nope, neither and no DL either.

Sort of... and yooperdave , only 13 but plenty able. Regarding growing, she didn't hit 5' and I fear she won't. Doubt she could reach the pedals in the Blaze much less that super stiff clutch. She said something about kids driving legal at 14, I'll have to look into that.

Legal to drive farm vehicle on road here; need triangle in back. No license or age restrictions.. guess you got to be tall enough to reach the pedals

    LOL!

I looked it up, learners permit at 14-15, and a "hardship permit" exception available at 14. Distance wise where we live I assume could be the hardship exemption, but WWW only wants learners. We'll see, next summer is a long ways away (14), WWW ended up picking her up from the bus and said she did an excellet job driving home :)

Ugh, I hope the leak is easy to fix.

I'd take some of that rain if I could. We are 8" under (which is a couple of months worth). It rained a bit on 10/15, then again on 10/30. Haven't seen any since, and none in the forecast for the next week. Our ground is really going to be dry when it freezes, which does not bode well for the vegetation, or for soaking in some of the melting snow come spring.

Farmers have more freedom with a few things. I started young and no questions were asked. I was a farm kid and farm kids needed to learn young.

Ouch. We had a terribly dry summer, but it's making up in spades now. All or nothing this year. Hope you get some water.

This house was on the market for cheap because it was leaking and in rough shape. Someone bought it and fixed it up, I must say they did a great job. They never had to go far to get materials, there's a building supplies store right next door. The store simply drove their new gyprock over on a forklift, and collected the forklift when they had it offloaded :ups:

Now it's for sale for $189,900 (184,685 USD). I couldn't live there, because I'd spend all my time next door at the hardware store :makeitrain"

We had some stomach bug go through here the last couple weeks...only lasts a day, but then it takes a few days to feel 100% again.

So dry here that I haven't mowed anything but where leaves gather for the last 5-6 weeks. Amazingly, the lawn/weeds are still mostly green. Even the sod that I laid on 9/28/24 in some bare places is still green. It only got watered for 2 weeks before I had to unhook the hoses from the faucet. We have gotten some pretty good frosts so the top is getting some moisture, but not much. Be interesting to see if it comes back healthy next spring.

Leaves were pretty much done about 10 days ago (at least before last weekend, maybe further back). If the wind stays fairly calm, unlike the last 3 days, I'll gather up the leaves that have swirled near and under the back porch stairs.
