Nice day yesterday, so I made myself go out and load up the very small amount of Maple and Poplar into the trailer.
Then, I uncovered the splitter and got to work on the Oak.
Got that done and from the splitter right into the trailer, then drove it back to the stacks.
Stacked the 10-15 pieces of Maple that were left, then stopped.
Here's the load. Not much, but now it's not sitting on the ground anymore. I'll get it stacked in the next couple days.
Doc cleared me as of next Friday or so, so I'll be back in the woods soon.:dancer:I plan to take it slow for a while longer, and won't be lifting anything very heavy. Lots of small-ish dead Oak on the cutting floor.:tree:
    Pics to follow.:thumbs::ithappened:

    Definitely going slow HDR. Thanks.
I'm afraid if I go any slower, I'll go backward so far I'll be in the middle ages.
If it doesn't go well in the first couple minutes in the woods, I'll pack up and go home.
The surgery wasn't bad (I was out like a light), but the recovery sucks. Don't wanna' do it again If I can avoid it.

Well you had a pretty big hole there, it just takes longer to heal up and get back to normal at our age

It's been raining cats and dogs and a bunch of other stuff the last couple days, but I went out today and got the rest of the stuff on the trailer stacked.
Now, I can take the tractor/trailer back to get more Oak or Maple.
The Maple will be easier to grab, and dry faster, but I really could use the Oak.
Decisions, decisions. We have several days forecast to be nice, so I'd like to take advantage of that.

You're gettin serious with movin' wood now PD... a tractor trailer... whew... :tree:

I'm building a couple cribs to stack on, in the shop right now. Because of your's, BogyDave's and other's stacking ideas, I'm looking forward to getting them done so I can get this pile of splits stacked. Each will hold 2 rows... bout a cord with 20" splits. I've also decided not to put them against the stonewall, but out enough to get by with the mower. Maybe even in a center area of the back lawn.

Glad you're gettin gooder as time goes on...

    Tractor/trailer.......oops.
That would be pretty ambitious, wouldn't it.
    Yeah, gotta' let 'em breathe.
Feel really gooder this morning. We'll see as the day goes on, if that lasts.

Yep. Pretty much how I do things anyway, it's just been much slower recently.

This is a small 9"dbh Oak that the big Oak was leaning on a few weeks ago.
I put a face/back cut on it at that time, and because there was so much tension, I walked away from it hoping it would come down in a windstorm.
When I got there today, that's exactly what it had done, which also allowed the big Oak to drop to the ground. I'm a happy camper:dancer:
There was no way I was going to be able to get the big rounds out, so was hoping the small one was down. There's also another dead Oak about the same size that was just behind where I parked the Jeep that I'll drop and buck when I get back over there.

It works Dave! We've been known to do the same thing. Mother Nature can be your friend if you let her.

Loaded the Jeep with the 35 rounds of Oak, and 8 rounds of Poplar that I had left last time I was there.

Got home, unloaded/stacked the rounds next to the splitter. No pic of that, but I can do that.

Dennis, yep, did that just before the surgery thinking it would have a few days to drop.
Turns out it's had almost 5 weeks to do it, but it still worked just as planned.

Much gooder every day, although still some soreness.
I can feel the patch, which is kinda' weird.
I kept to the small stuff today and rolled all the rounds to the Jeep. Picking 'em up had me a little hesitant, but it wasn't bad at all until I got home.
A little sore, but some IBU fixed that.
Still a bunch of branch wood from the big Oak that's as big as the tree I got today.
Might get some of that tomorrow.
