So I hemmed and hawed about my stach. I've been hauling them home in my truck. I still have a half ton of MWP from Walmart in the back of my truck. My plan is to have a stash in the garage and not use them until the prescheduled shortage happens around Feb is my best guess. Until the then, buy and unload right into the porch. So I played around with the prices, delivery etc. today i bought four tons of firesides from HD. Contrary to what they told me earlier, they will deliver free if four or more tons are purchased. I also got a veteran's discount but that was limited to 50 dollars. Delivery is 4 weeks out, but that is fine with me. I have some left over as well as those in the truck. I understand Firesides are good. Now that I have the Harman, I no longer feel compelled to buy strictly MWP. My son has the Napoleon. He bought 5 tons of MWP for his fussy stove.
Larry, I burned a lot of FSU's last year. Actually I burned a lot of everything last year. Nothing to worry about. A lot of people say they're better than the MWP, but hard for me to tell in the Harman. I haven't burned any of this years yet, my 3 tons are coming Oct. 7. They didn't charge me a delivery fee either.
IMO, I think you should check the store the day before delivery. Box stores are notorious for delivering whatever is closest to the forklift. Lowes sent me Green Supreme 2 yrs ago instead of what I ordered. PIA to have to call them and have the order switched. I even had the person in Home & Garden magic-marker my name onto the actual tons I wanted.
Thanks, things could always change, but this year each HD is carring one brand. The waterville HD has MWP and the augusta store has firesides. Their plan is to stay that way. I asked about getting them from the waterville store and price match to the next door Walmart. They won't price match because the offer delivery and Walmart doesn't
I burned some FSU last season and liked them a whole lot. . . . . . Ash was in line with the MWP, But the FSU seemed hotter in my heap. I have heard many horror stories of what the box will ship on, Main reason I always get my own in the pellet hauler. Hey, It has to earn its keep too. We gave it a work out hauling this fall and all summer long hauling the bass rig to our favorite spots.
They insisted that is the only brand they will carry this year. I bet when the shortage happens, it will be anything they can get. They did that last winter and I had a good time trying differents brands in the new Harman. I must be numb because they all seem to burn good. I think the stove adjust itself to put out whatever I sat it for. I actually kept watch to make sure it didn't get too hot.
Hey JT...If it's a workout for your truck you either need to get a smaller boat or a bigger truck!! LOL
I check when they schedule the shipping and again when they call to tell me it's on the way. I would refuse to accept them if they weren't what I ordered.
Its not the boat, Its all the chit we pile in it!! Truck hauls it just fine. Handles a ton NP too. And there another good thing. Its freekin paid for!!
Stopped at HD in Auburn, MA tonight and they had Stove Chows. Never tried them before, but the reviews seem to be pretty decent. Picked up 5 bags to add to the stash so I can try them out for myself.
Just watch HD unloading a trailerload of Fireside Ultras ! Might grab some, but im beyond pig now, running out of dry storage, and have pellets tarped outside now !!
I love FSU's! Hoping HD has some this Friday as I continue to over load my storage capacity. One if the lowest ash box pellets for me, about half of MWP, which I also have three tons of in the bunker.
Really. Not sure of what they are charging, but im really tempted. I'm aproaching Jtakeman ststus here, my Wife is starting to question all the pellets stashed everywhere.
Same here. I just keeping picking up small quantities of pellets I've never tried before. The wife thinks I've lost my marbles. FSU is on my list, I just need one of the local HDs to have an open pallet of them so I can buy a few bags. Every time I go there they have full tons of FSU, but only open pallets of Nations Choice! One of these days I'll get lucky...
My mere 5 tons is nothing compare to some of the hogs we have roaming these parts. I barely can keep up with some and others just baffle me on where they can find the room for em. I swear they all sit on pellet sofa's and sleep on pellet mattress's!
