I never understood why some people are so disoriented by a one hour change in the clock, twice a year. It just doesn’t seem like that big of a deal to me, and I like having the daylight hours more usable Doug
Some years between the sun setting sooner, then the time change I end up going to bed earlier and earlier each night = waking up earlier and earlier. Hasn't happened recently but I remember years it did.
I have to leave for work around 7. Normal work hours are 7:30-4:00. If I leave on time I get home 4:20-4:30. In winter I have to feed cows, usually I try to feed so I can get by with every other day, unless it's super cold or bad weather, then I'll feed different or have to every day. Gets dark at what, 5:20-5:30? I can't get all my chores done in the light which is a pita, but I can drive to work in the dark. Would much rather have the extra time in the afternoon/evening over the morning.
I'm up early most mornings. I prefer morning light over afternoon light. The clock change is no big deal to me.
Clocks only matter when we have to deal with other people/entities who deal with clocks etc for time. The sun doesn't care what our clocks say or do. If I was retired or perhaps self employed (depending on what that was, ie if I had to make appointments with other people for timing purposes), then the clock would matter much less. But since my time is 'governed' by my work schedule, I have constraints on the 'rest of my time'....which then affects how much of that time is during daylight hours...
I simply don't see any sense in playing with the clocks. The sun comes up and the sun sets and the politicians can't change that. That is good enough for me.
I just re-read my last post. I wasn't trying to sound like a smartass or be confrontational, just fyi. But I can see how it could be read or perceived as both / either....
The time change never bothered me like it does some people. Resetting some clocks can be a PITA though. Like the one in my car that I now just let be off in the Winter. My watch and phone are on network time and do that itself. My current microwave doesn't need a time set to function. They say I'm crazy, but I have a good time Life's been good to me so far
If I had to pick, I'd take sunrise at 7:15 over 8:15 am. At least that is about what it would be here where I live in December. But being retired it really doesn't matter to me now.
I'd prefer more daylight after work than before. Can't say that i get much done before, usually. Might change as i get old. Old = energy in the am, wore out after noon. Ready for bed at 5.
I always worked outdoor construction and right before the time change and later in mid December darkness was an issue being we always had a 7:00 am start time. I always hated in the spring when they took that hour back though. Now I plan to just sleep though it all.
I agree 1000% with Dennis. I hate hate hate the stooooooooooooopid stinkin pointless useless lousy time change.
