Used Stihl 241 value?

What’s a used Stihl 241c value that appears to be in decent shape? No, I don’t need it, but CAD!

I bought mine for $175 back in June. Been running it with a 14" bar.
Got my 241.

300-400 is about what I figured. Brad I didn’t see your post from June, great deal! . How do you like your 241 so far? How’s it cut compared to your 261?

 

As always pull the muffler & inspect before offering up any funds unless they are willing to take $100-$150 for it. If they will take the offered $100 you can have it rebuilt & still be sitting good.

I was thunking decent used 241’s were in the $400 - $500 range.

But does it only have one bar stud/nut? I assume those can be replaced (no experience with that need), but just noticed it in the pic....

Not a bad saw. The 16" bar that came with it was damaged from using it dull so I threw a 14" bar from another saw on it. I like it better than my rear handle 201. Actually haven't used the 261 since I got the 241. Usually paired with the 400 at cuts. Did you ever buy a 400? I know you were considering it.

 

400 & 241 sounds like an excellent easy on the lower back pain two saw plan.

The MS241 is worth more in the $5-600 range condition depending. I paid $561 for mine on eBay it was like new, new ones across the pond are $1000+ shipping.

 

I think that’s crazy because they weren’t that much new, when they were for sale in the us it was 50$ less than rhe 261 which was 550-600. Absolutely no reason it should be 4-500$ used unless it looks new. You can buy a good 261 for 3-400$

 

Crazy or not, they have a higher resale than a 261. They have a cult following just like a 346.

I’ll tell y’all what, every 241 you guys find at 2-300 or whatever you’re convinced their worth, I’ll buy every damm one you can get your hands on.

 

Just asking because I’m in the market for a light weight saw for limbing and small quick work. Is that the case that the 241 is close to the 200 rear handle? I have used a 194T and found it more than adequate for what I want to do but am not as comfortable with the top handle. I waited one day too long to respond to a 241 like new on FBM about a year ago at $450. Been kicking myself ever since! Thanks

 

No, it just has the same cult following the 200T does making the price inflated more than it should be. The MS241 ported is a really nice light weight hot rod. I have a 543xp that is ported as well, they perform very similar, so if cost/availability is a concern, you might snatch one of them up.

 

Thanks! I don’t mind buy once cry once so I’m going to keep looking for that pristine 241 but might look at the 543xp for the interim. Appreciate it! I’m looking to have a saw at the smaller end to complement my MS 400 I do have something “in between” also.

 

Having had a ported 201 rear handle and the ported 241, I can say there is no comparison. Both ported by the same builder. Stock they were worlds apart too. I sold the 201 with very few tanks on it. My go to limber is my 2511P. My "big saw" is my 241. 12.8 pounds ready to cut with 18" oregon speedcut bar and 23RS chain.

 

The 543xp is a sweet saw too. I had one of those and the redmax variant. Not as light but not 50cc weight.
