    I’ve known people who have used a gum wrapper on small round type fuses in a pinch. If you do something like this you can’t reserve the right to whine and complain when something of importance burns up or fails.

    It’s definitely a tradeoff. Dating myself here, but when the throttle cable broke in my brothers car back in the day we used speaker wire and duct tape to get home.

    Been there about 15 years ago. Gas (diesel)pedal stopped working hauling horses from Kentucky. Throttle snapped halfway home. Rigged up a linkage with baling wire and zip ties and it got us home. It was a friends truck. They took it to a mechanic the following Monday and he said it was running so rich it could have started from a stop in 3rd gear with a trailer.

    I did that once in an old nova. Headlight fuse blew. Stopped at the nearest convenience store bought some gum and used the wrapper to get me home.
