WE made our First shell run yesterday .
Lovely weather ....But...................... One little fly in the ointment .

We were about 10 miles from the ranch heading back loaded and things got ugly......Luckily this nice farm yard lot was only about 2 blocks ahead .

Took about 30 minutes to get the trailer jacked up and swap the tire.....Spare tire....Jack and tools in the Burb......

Got home, backed the rig in the barn and then went and got a good used tire to replace that RAG

We will unload the shells today after breakfast

Pretty strong CME left the sun on Oct 8. NOAA issued a warning for a G4 (severe) CME. Northern Lights visible over a large area of North America. Was pretty vivid here in SE NH.

Only got to 39 here. Next week supposed to have a few nights in the 30's. Kick on the electric baseboards for an hour after I get up, then let the sun warm up the house.

Yes, it was nice to see them again. It got really active again close to 1am, to late me to stay up and watch.

It's bad enough getting a flat on a vehicle, it must be twice the pain when it is on a trailer.

I fall asleep early enough that I didn't see the first showing - jusdging by the town's (unofficial) FB page, 10;30 pm was great time to see them. I woke up about 1:30, and there was nothing. Went out again at 2:30, still nothing. But when I went out at 3:30am, there were pinks in the NW and and greens to the north that I could see with the naked eye (nothing really vivid, but I could discern them). Since I am down by the river (so surrounded by hills), and not in a lightless area, that is pretty good. I don't use my phone to see it as I can't seem to get the setting right (and don't care enough to try to do so). Plus, I want to see the unadulterated version not an enhancement - my own personal foible.

Us old folks got our shells unloaded yesterday.....

Went pretty smooth .....Then the flow of the shells up the hose into the barrel started to go very slow....

Some careful looking and we found the main hose to the barrel adapter (Barrel master) had worn through at one of the bends and was leaking a LOT of air....

Gorilla tape to the rescue .......The flex hoses are good for a few seasons and then they will wear through in spots that curve.......

    Ah well......

The Gorilla tape will get us through this season.......
Smooth \hose would be better....But I have not seen any

Today may be a good day to fire up the P43. Rainy, chilly in the 40's. I'm up at 4am cause my body (especially my hands & knees) are telling me weather is coming. Now to just find my jug of Granny Clampett's Rheumatism Elixir:coldone:

10 day forecast has it being close to 70* Sat thru Wed here in SE NH. Lori didn't want me to fire up the P43 this week, said " it's too early, we'll just wear sweats ". Same woman who then walks around the house going "chilly in here" :headbang:

Back been bothering me this week. Get about 4 hours sleep, get up for an hour or so then go back to bed for a few more hours. Not sure how I tweaked it. Was fine Tues morning, went to get up off the sofa and couldn't stand up straight. Nice thing about being retired, feel tired, just go lay down:BrianK:

May be warmer during the day, but it's still cold at night (currently 29* at my place, 3rd day of hard frost here (Monday night, Wednesday night and now). Had a couple of frosts before that, but it's starting to look like a pattern.

Lowest was 33 yesterday morning around here. 34-36 other mornings. Birds must think winter is here cause they have been devouring the seed, mealworms and suet this week.

Saw the Junco's for the first time yesterday. Don't usually see them on the feeders, So I scattered some seed on the ground for them.
