Council Tool's FE8 and Ol' No.7 Maul

Just got these in this morning. Figured I'd share a few pictures and profile comparisons.

First is FE8 and Ol' No.7.
Second is FE6 and FE8.
Third is Fiskars 8 lb, Ol' No.7, and Council Tool 8 lb maul.

 

Have you tried them all yet?

 

I like the looks of that 7lb maul! I may have to get one of these as well. I like council tools quite well

 

I ordered one on Tuesday.
The profile looks like is going to be a new favorite of mine.

 

Sorry about the absence. I have not tried them yet. I'm going to scrape the handles and put BLO on them this weekend. So, next week I'll give them a run.

 

I do too. I have several of their axes, mauls and pickeroons.

You're asking the wrong guy that question. I know nothing about axes compared to a lot of folks on here.

Mine are used for splitting firewood, camping, a little bushcraft and things like that. I don't even use axes to pound wedges.

Ask that question in a new thread and I bet you'll get tons of insight.

 

I would suggest an MS400 instead!

 

amazing how many different versions of axes and mauls there are !! the last time I used a maul was a "Monster Maul " when I was a teenager sold enough firewood and bought a splitter I still have it I use it to hold the office door open on a windy day . I have a lot of respect for you guys and gals who split by hand but just seeing them makes my beat up shoulders hurt JB
