IMG_3578.jpeg Well my trailer ramp hinges need to be replaced for the 3rd time in 5 years. The ones I’ve been using are the biggest that the local hardware store offers. Before I do anything I wanted to see if any of the forums blacksmiths or metal guys would be interested in making me a set of the last hinges I’ll ever need lol.
PM me if you’re up for the task and I’ll get you measurements and you can let me know the price. I’m in the middle of a job right now and don’t have a tape measure on me.

I'd make that out of 1/2" black pipe and some 1/2" round stock.
Cut the pipe into 5 sections and weld 3 to one side (probably the gate) and 2 to the other (probably the trailer side) (weld them to some flat bar, angle, channel, whatever works best to attach to the trailer and gate) leaving a 1/8"-1/4" gap between each section.
Then use the round stock to act as the hinge pin.
    Make sense?

That's what I was thinking also. I'll try and draw up a crude diagram

I don't think this is a custom job. You can find heavy duty barrel hinges pretty easily. Check an agricultural type store (farm fleet, tractor supply, rural king, etc).

I'd suggest you pretty much follow brenndatomu's plan. Well proven and cost effective.

Mine is similar but only with two attachment points. The stud on one side needs to be shorter if you plan to remove & reinstall on your own. Wish I could get a pic. Rudimentary and effective. Had a TSC trailer for a bit and the gate was not removable which is a pain in certain situations.

I actually remembered to snap a pic of mine since I was using it Saturday. Very rudimentary. Works great.

Thanks. I picked up a flux welder from HF last week and will be learning how to weld. The trailer gate hinge will be my first project.

A skill that no one ever shared with me. I do know a couple guys who are good at it though.

Have never laid the first bead. I have read this cover to cover though.
