A buddy from town called last night and asked if I had any rounds for sale. Negative. I said I will cut you some tell me how long.
So today’s project was 2 white oaks, 2 black cherrys, and 1 no bark elm. All cut 20-21-inches per his request. He’s coming out tomorrow with a dump trailer.

Yeah I did a little yard work the other day and I still was sweating. A little cooler will be much better, but I'm not rushing colder weather in. We're still using our boat, and it's great weather for that.

Where did the summer go? I usually start burning in late October so I best be getting ready. Hauled some very dry wood into the garage. It’s a start.

I am going to put a face cord in our walk out basement this year. Please don’t tell my wife. Maybe she won’t notice?

So now that my gravel drying pad is empty, I started re filling it with my 24/25 stash.

I pull out of my monster woods pile, fine tune it with the electric splitter in the shed. Do you guys think I may have over loaded my ATV trailer? I don’t have to go far just out the doors and to the right. That trailer is heavy the oak I split is measuring high 20’s moisture.

At first, I thought "thats too heavy for that trailer"

Then, I looked at the leaf springs and saw they aren't even close to flattening out.

Nice that you have access to logs. I couldn't fill an order like that at a moments notice.

Im enjoying the cooler temps for sure but looking forward to sweatshirt weather to cut wood.

My wife made me a firewood for sale ad on Spacebook Marketplace since I do not Spacebook. Holy crap batgirl, the Benjamin’s were flying like crazy. I sold out of ready to burn wood in 5 days after she placed the ad. I had trucks and trailers coming and going. I only had 16 face cords ready. Here’s something you don’t see everyday. My shed does not have a single piece of firewood in it.

I will start refilling shed for 2025 sales tomorrow.

I hope that was over what you’ll burn yourself this heating season.

Maybe, you could've asked for more $'s.

A serious consideration at this time of the year is the weather.

I get $110 cash per face cord. I could prolly ask more but I don’t offer delivery. Maybe next year I’ll ask $125 and see what happens.

And in between customers coming and going for their wood, I got my 25/26 stash prepared. It’s all mid 20’s or higher so in 14 months sitting outside it will be ready. I don’t top cover until there is snow in the forecast.

Time to start attacking some rounds for my next fall customers! Keeps me out of the taverns I tell my bride,,,,

Nature amazes me. The other day I threw a road killed opossum into the cut cornfield behind my shed. While splitting some wood I looked up and saw a bald eagle had found it. He was having a good meal and I am not kidding 5 crows dive bombed him and chased him away. No pics of the crows but got a bad pic of the eagle. Bout 40 yards away.
    IMG_3358.jpeg

5 against 1 not a fair fight. I bet ifn it was one on one the eagle would have a ate crow and opossum both!

This past summer, I had two different times that an eagle had landed on my dock to have a fish meal! All I saw was the leftovers; a neighbor had the same thing and got a good look at it (binoculars) and identified it as a golden eagle.

I have a tree that is a favorite perch of bald eagles. Again this past year, there were three in the tree at the same time. Two adults and one juvenile. Makes for a lot of noise at dawn!

ole it's amazing how little color your leaves do not have. Mine have peaked and are dropping.
