How's that engine run? Subaru EX series is the only small engine series I will rate higher than a Honda GX due to overhead cam design.
Really smooth. Starts easily too. I’m guessing it spends some time outside based on how the overall unit looks. Our Billy Goat blower (close to 20 years old IIRC) has a Subaru engine and it’s been great.
you need a drift punch to realign the holes, they were aligned before without drilling and will line up again.
Good news! I was able to rotate the cylinder and get the bolt in. Took one quick tap and dropped right down. Secured it with a nylock nut. I bought an extra bolt, nylock nut and two regular nuts. I’ll give them both to my neighbor when I return the splitter. With that sorted out, I was able to split a good amount vertically today which was awesome for the bigger rounds. Interesting Beech splits. The Beech in SoVT gets some type of canker on it and the bark is not smooth; impacts the interior as well: Getting after some hardwood rounds that were in the stacks behind the splitter: End of the day pics: Splitter some bigger rounds that had been in the pile for quite some time. A bunch of Pine and Hemlock that we split between last week and and this weekend: More softwood: I ended up rolling the dice and saving the rounds from a large Beech that rotted and fell on its own months ago. Got lucky and there was some salvageable wood in there. Pile in the background; stacks in the foreground: About 80% of these splits were done with the splitter today: Things went quickly today with me running the splitter and my wife stacking; we both have our enjoyable tasks.
Nice productive day! Wife and I have a similar arrangement, I split and she stacks but will use the splitter occasionally in vertical position
