We ended up with 13 birds in two long walks between my buddy and I. IMG_4544.jpeg IMG_4540.jpeg IMG_4541.jpeg IMG_4542.jpeg IMG_4675.jpeg

Do you use a dog or just flush them as you walk around?

We are walking without a dog.

I had a great hunting dog from 1990 through 2001, then she got too old to hunt much her last year.

Now I have to walk a little longer to get as many birds, but don’t mind that part at all. But I do miss watching my old dog on a scent.

Can tell you hunt grouse in diff cover than quail...would never find a dead bird here!

Yes, the cover is typically edges and transitions between grassy light brush along old logging roads, beaver ponds, small rivers, exposed rock, etc - and thicker mixed boreal forest.

Thanks for sharing! That’s a good day without canine assistance:thumbs:. Sure miss our trips to the Northwoods of WI each Fall. No more GSP’s in the family anymore:(. If I lived where you do I could see myself hunting dog-less too just to be out in the woods!

My wife and I enjoyed another good round of hunting this past weekend.

I didn’t get a chance to take a picture as they were just turning off the logging cut, but some tribal hunters harvested a nice bull moose in the area I was hunting Thursday.
