That's like finding buried treasure or waking up on Christmas morning to lots of presents.

Several cords back there yet. I pulled another quarter cord forward this afternoon and stacked. Had to dust it off :emb: literally. Ill move more this week. Those stacks are temporary as it gets good sun. Full cord customers will get half old stuff and half of stuff cut last year. IMG_6230.JPG IMG_6235.JPG

Got an order for 20 bundles last week. I asked if he would take it loose rather than wrapped to which he said yes so he got a bit more than if bundled. Win/win situation. Roughly 140 pcs. I'm liking these small orders....especially the profit margin. IMG_6231.JPG Cherry. sassafras, and tulip poplar.

A tree service I haven't heard from in over a year reached out asking if I would be interested in a load of oak. Indeed I would sir! He left some in the driveway but I'll get it cut and stacked.[IMG][IMG]

They say good things come to those who wait. As long as the ads are free, keep them running. That's what I do.

Yesterday I cut up some of the oak and split the last of the ash. Cut more oak this morning.[IMG][IMG]

Met up with him this morning. He was very pleased with the apple. Made his own smoker earlier this year. He may try other woods in the future. I'd like to get some regulars for it.
    Hickory going tomorrow morning. :dancer:

When I meet someone picking up smoking wood at the stand I strike up a conversation. I usually end up introducing them to other options, describing the type of flavor they'll get and which meats work best. Now I'm selling bagged honey locust regularly for top dollar.

As I was going back to the storage yard to load some mixed hardwoods in the Gator to refill the roadside stand, I happened upon 7 deer feasting on grass. I chatted with them for about 5 minutes before they moved on.[IMG]

Honey locust? I know its a primo btu heating wood, but good for smoking?

I mentioned nuggets and cut offs to the guy this morning and he seemed interested. Id hate to just have them go in the nugget bin.

What a fiasco yesterday morning.:hair: The guy wanted 100pcs of hickory. Meeting up at 930 right near my wood storage. He seemed like he didn't want to pay the delivery fee and it was a good order so I accommodated him. He was good with responding and actually called me Friday night to confirm the time and place. Well I loaded up and got there early. He wasn't there yet and had stated he'd be on the early side. I waited for a bit then called him....straight to VM. Sent a text and no reply. I waited almost a half hour then called again and same result. Rather POed I went back and restacked the wood. I even said to myself that I shouldn't mark down the sale in my ledger until it happens...bad omen maybe? Counting my chickens before they hatch the old cliche. When I checked FBM he had deleted all the correspondence. Have to figure out some new policy. I'm thinking verbal confirmation the day of the sale.

Discouraged, but not defeated I went to plan B. Had a four year old cord of hickory that I had a potential customer for. New guy this year and said he'd take wood anytime, dry or green. I called, he was home, I explained what it was and delivery was made. Got a small premium and he'll take the other half cord of it even though some is no good as the top cover leaked. He's a prepper and stated he'd fill his PA with stacks if he could. Had a good chat with him and will get the rest to him this week. Moved maybe three cords out of there so far including another quarter cord of BL that I pulled and restacked in front yesterday.

    Sorry for the rant.

I often take electronic payment for new customers. Some will pay in advance. Others pay on delivery. Obviously I always take cash but the form of payment is confirmed ahead of time.

My 100 bundle guy called. Needs a delivery. Started yesterday and with todays assembly I'm nearly halfway there. May do more tomorrow. Also have a tentative ten bundle offer from my FBM ad. We couldn't connect the past few days. A few tire kickers on FBM. Delivered a half cord of nuggets to second year customer. He is willing to buy a half cord of BL nuggets come December. Also delivered a half cord to a long time customer. He will buy 3-4 more half cords through the season. Also got a message from a new BL customer from last year. Wants a cord. Couple other regulars have called and their orders should go soon as well. Been a good month so far. Tis the season. :coldfire: :makeitrain"

How does your stand do in the heating season?

Just getting back to my thread. Typically sales are quite slow when the fire pit season ends. I had a customer that bought 6 bags of smoking wood last week. That's an unusually large sale. From now until May most of my customers are fireplace burners (ambience rather than heating). If we get a really cold snap I typically see a bump in sales.

I picked up a load of mixed hardwoods from my farmer buddy. He hasn't started advertising yet and it's the second load I got from him already. Should stack out to a strong 1/3 cord. I processed and stacked 1/4 cord in an IBC tote to be delivered today.[IMG][IMG]
