I found it interesting that anywhere I laid epdm rubber out on the grass, it turned brown the next day, after sitting there on a short time (10-15 minutes?) Not long enough to get very hot IMO

When I tore off old asphalt shingles I'd put a tarp down and in the Summer the grass and sometimes shrubs got scorched.

that EPDM I scored last month was on the grass for a few days and luckily it didn't scorch although much sunlight didn't hit it.

it can get pretty hot fast laid out in the sun. I remember cutting the large roll up into pieces how quick it went.
It’s also heavier so it makes more contact with the grass. I wonder if oxygen plays a role. It’s 100% non breathable. Add the extra contact/less air underneath,,,,,,
I didn’t think it would transfer that much heat through the tarp and into the rubber where some sort of degradation would occur. It’s not melting per se but something happened between the two. The edges and grommets are holding up fine and that’s usually where things tear first.
Sorta bites, I was planning on using the rubber as a cushion on all my future pens.
