Yes Samaritans Purse is up there helping. I went to the Boone location and volunteered a few years ago. They get things done. They worked me hard. Here is a link with a video if anyone would like to donate. We need to get the word out. These people are in dire need. Samaritan’s Purse
Our local electric Co Op sent numerous crews, they are in George working. Reports we are getting is the Co Op they are working at 100% of the electric poles have been broken or overturned. They have to rebuild a century’s worth of infrastructure but before they can do it they have to clean up thousands of down trees. Good reminder to pick up some extra fuel for the generators just in case of an outage.
I concur with ammoaddict but having been through a flood recently let me add; FEMA is useless! Think of the guys standing around a hole watching 1 person work Flood insurance is a joke; when dirt becomes saturated (read mud) it loses its ability to hold weight, like a footing … duh .. but they don’t cover that! churches are far more efficient IME
I'm not happy with response but have seen video footage from residents of the area. The feds are there. Ain't no civvies that have an Osprey which was seen overhead in one video along with other Helos. Also seen videos of a few Buford T Justice LEO types hindering efforts of Citizens to help. Ego has no place in law enforcement in my own opinion.
Have any of yall heard from folks in western NC? We've seen some stuff about fema coming in and taking all the donations and turning away volunteers. Can anyone confirm? I also realize that it could be a case of them (fema etc) trying to create some order amidst the chaos, so it might not be all negative, just being taken and spun in a negative....
I haven't talked to anyone personally but from what I've been hearing, the government is not doing anything. It's all over the local news everyday showing all the people helping and it's all citizens. I see helicopters flying over my house everyday going back and forth and they are not military. Word is military choppers have been sitting at Asheville airport for days waiting on orders from the commander in chief. Very sad situation.
I did see something on the TV at work today about fema being pretty much out of money, esp if another storm hits... Hmmm Wonder of they were to fly a Ukrainian flag if they'd get money and help? Or if they said nada de ingles?
My buddy is down there now...he said, and I quote, "This entire day I witnessed the backbone (hard working average income Americans) helping their neighbors and people they’ve never meet. From cleanup, to food distribution, these people were angels. Angels Sacrificially giving time, food, supplies, resources and their own money to aid in this indescribable disaster. Entrepreneurs and small business owners were out with their massive dump trucks, chain saws, dozers, bucket trucks and any piece of equipment they owned to help cut & clean roadways. Of course on their own dime! 75% of help out there was citizens from as far away as Florida 24% was local sheriff, police and state troopers. 1% unfortunately was part of the US Government. Thank God for the heart of the True Blue Americans!" Yup, sounds like FEMA is broke, after making sure the illegals are living it up.
brenndatomu thats what I saw here.. Fema flys in rents cars and hotel rooms and hands out papers Churches did 10 times as much I went to FEMA several times; 1 to get water bottles It was in shipping container that was dinged in transportation. I said got an angle grinder with cut wheel and crow bar let’s open it. Was told no and threatened with arrest after I grabbed grinder.. I went to church
Sounds like they are out of funds after give aways of close to 3/4 billion to illegals. End result, citizens of the USA get next to nothing......
I'm praying for the victims. I saw some news coverage today with flashbacks from Palestine OH and Hailana HI. Heartbreaking!
Supposedly the smell in some places is getting horrendous. Not just human remains, but cows, horses, chickens, all sort of animals that got trapped in barns and drowned.
