Went back today for another load. I was loosely tossing wood on the PU thinking it was a face cord or so. Turns out it was more. Mostly red maple and cherry with some beech and red oak. IMG_6188.JPG IMG_6189.JPG Split 75% off the truck. Stacked the cherry in a mixed cord rack for next year. (feed bags have splitter shards and/or little chunks for the firepit). IMG_6193.JPG The maple may be ready for late Winter as the bark was coming off. It will get stacked with some dead ash. Need more racks to open up. IMG_6195.JPG More termites found. Torched them. IMG_6192.JPG IMG_6191.JPG Score done. Yielded over a cord. On to the next one.

Splittin’ some cherry today I thought how much of a pita it would have been to hand split it. The BL too. Both were stubborn to come apart.

Excellent score there. We have a few cherry on the ground at our property I need to get to. BTW have you ever had mice nest in your bags of kindling? I had a box of it in the firewood shed with a whole mouse family in it.

These weren't too bad to crack with the Isocore although I did noodle several. It can be hit or miss with cherry IME.

You suggested I could maybe help CutSplitStack with photo documentation…. Looks like I need to swing by Connecticut first and show you how to hold the camera straight.

    LOL!!!

Look at pic#4 of the OP. The truck was parked on a hillside. Look at the neighbors deck for a reference point of level.

Nice score Brad. Biggest I’ve seen was many moons ago. Probably about 20” but not a tall tree. I remember how heavy they were. There may still be a big round out in the bamboo/briar patch. I know I left one behind, not sure if I ever went back for it,,,,,,so heavy I wasn’t enthused.
Just ran into a few splits from 2019 while loading up for winter. Not sure where these came from. Nice looking splits, reminds me of well seasoned black locust, still heavy and hard as nails.
Have a handle for my doorbell, temporary, was supposed to be replaced with a coffee grinder wheel at some point. Never got replaced, been outside since 1993. Grey and weathered but not rotten. Id say it holds up well.

This was one of the biggest I remember cutting. Had to reach back in the archives to find it. February of 2021. Didn’t measure the diameter, but it was a big one and yielded many splits! IMG_4147.jpeg

I need to go back and measure the diameter of that stump if I can remember to. Also has me motivated to go cut up some blow down cherries I noticed in the woods when do I no stand maintenance a few weeks ago. Fields are
Corn this year, so it’ll be the four wheeler and trailer if I do it any time soon.

Had mice nesting in a bundle that was only a week old. Like he said mice and firewood go hand in hand. Luckily the snakes take care of them for me for the most part.
