Weather finally eased up from the 90's and got some rain yesterday. It is DRY here, but I'm still going to light the firepit and cook a couple steaks tonight.

If life were any busier right now I'd need a time machine.

I haven't seen the hummingbirds in a couple of days. I think they might have left for the South....

You must be on the sunny side of the system that has plagued my area. I haven't seen 60* since Sunday and it's been heavily overcast the entire time. Should at least get some rain today to ease the abnormally dry month I've had so far. Starting tomorrow, they are saying we will just be mostly cloudy until at least Tuesday, although it should warm up a little.

More underground plumbing this AM. Got the gutter downspouts on the other side of the house tied into schedule 35 and ready to hook up some pop up drains. Should be able to finish up this evening.

The joys of living on flat ground. Whoever built this house should have laid one more course of block on the foundation. I only have 2" of fall 10' away from the house. Any less and I'd have to dig a moat.

It is DRY and the ground is HARD. We're supposed to get some huricane leftovers tomorrow...we need it bad.

Been trying to find a new job starting around 1 aug after getting an idea why my vision is wonky.

last night, talked to a couple buddies about jobs as a mechanic in the class 8 industry.

this morning, I get texted back…

“they’re preparing for layoffs here actually …. “

    this is gonna get ugly…

    :confused::(

Took our feeders down today. It had been awhile since the feeders were visited.

I took ours down about a week ago. Very little activity this year. I'm not sure why.

Ours have more and more hummers at them every year. I've never seen a nest around here, but they have to have them in trees in my yard. They go back to the same area they they were at the year prior. When they're born here, those youngsters come back after their winter vacation down south.

We seemed to have a family here last year, but we only saw one now and then this year. Maybe a neighbor had better dining?

Those nests are so small, about the size of a thimble, so it would be rare to see a nest unless you know exactly where to look.

I literally only saw the female this year. I didn't put up feeders this year (decided not to feed the bears), but do have plenty of flowers in the yard and on the back porch railing. She visited the porch planters regularly.

I stumbled across one some years back...it was bigger than that, but not by much...I would say it was about as big as one of those mini prepackaged donuts that you can buy at the convenience store.

I have found a few and agree. What is really small is the eggs.
