Put in a lot of trigger time this weekend trying to get ahead before school starts back up next week. I moved the locust, cherry, and hickory out of the field so I could access both sides of the oak pile. As far as the oak, I picked out the larger diameter logs which none were too big to begin with. Now I am down to roughly the following: 70 oak logs, 15 mixed hardwood logs, 20 locust logs, 15 cherry logs, and 10 hickory logs. The locust, cherry, and hickory will all go in bins once cut and split.
The final few days of my summer break are winding down. I have 2 more days of freedom. (today included). Deliveries have started some - have 29 cords out the door at this point, and have about 12-15 more on order. Going to make a couple deliveries this morning then work on these hickory, cherry, and locust logs I pulled aside from the latest log delivery a couple weeks ago. I need to be as far ahead of my guys who split as possible because once school starts back up, I have very little time to cut.
I don't have any pictures of the final piles for this 2024 march but it was back to school for me last week. It is definitely another record year in terms of production. I estimate 400 cords is what I was able to get worked up. Delivery season started early this year and I have delivered 45 cords so far with 12 just this past weekend. I was feeling caught up with only having 3 more cords on my delivery list but the orders came in quickly this week, mostly from repeat customers but a few new people as well. I am now back up to 15 cords on order. My son has a baseball tournament this weekend about half an hour away. So far, he has a game Friday at 6 and Saturday at 4. That should give me time to pump out a decent amount. Games on Sunday will be determined by how the 2 play in games go but Sunday is probably going to be a wash for me and deliveries. Going to be a very busy fall.
Delivered 2 cords after work Friday and 10 more yesterday before calling it quits to go watch my Phillies beat the Mets. Son has baseball and daughter has field hockey today. Probably not going to deliver anything and that’s ok honestly because I’m a little tired and sore. 53 cords out the door so far. Picture of the two cords Friday afternoon.
