    I don't know what to say it really smells like other than a cheap plastic sort of smell.

    Burnt rubber to me is what you get on the starting line at the drag strip.
    It doesn't smell anything like that place.

    I meant putting a piece of rubber in a smoker. Lol. Thats what any of that chicom rubber smells like which is the overwhelming scent in a china freight store.

    If the tire still seals to the rim just put tubes in and get several more years on them.

    My dirty hands splitter has got to be pushing 10 years old ( because I’ve had the house for eleven). Has sat outside its whole life uncovered. Has been towed down to the dismal river a couple times. (About 16 miles down the highway one way). Back and forth from my house to work multiple times, that’s a 5 mile round trip. I’m sure there is a couple more local trips ( maybe 5 miles) that I can’t remember.
    And the tires are holding up great. Never had a flat, and I think they still look pretty good. In fact, they might be the most impressive component on the whole unit.

    Slime works great if you need it.

    That said, the tires on my mtd are original and still in great condition and that splitter is probably about 30 years old, I know my dad never bought a hydro splitter until after all of us 3 boys moved out. Go figure.

    My dad never even had a chainsaw... We had a couple bowsaws, a few razor sharp axes, a one man crosscut for when he was at work, and a two-man cross cut for after he got home from work.

    He was pretty handy with an axe.

    First thing I did when I started burning wood was buy a chainsaw...

    We did have a 20" power mower for the 2 acre yard though. Dad thought that was rather progressive...

    Have to keep in mind that a lot of the tires on our equipment, even if they are cheap crap, are several years older and see poor storage conditions compared to what we would consider acceptable on our vehicles. Nobody whines about 50,000 miles and 5 years of service from a $6-800 set of truck tires, but a 15-year-old $50 mower/tractor/cart/splitter tire leaks down over the course of a week, wow, what a piece of ..... :rofl: :lol:

    Outdoor storage on dirt/grass is probably the biggest accelerator of aging, second only to direct sun.
