Dropped off a little bit of scrap metal on my way to the feed store this morning. I wasn't expecting much but wanted it out of my way more than anything.

I got exactly $17.76. I think it's only right that I buy some ammo or something with it.

    Nice!

I did a little scrap run a little over a week ago and I got just under $30. Like you, I did it to clean stuff up and was happy to get something. We had 7 bags of aluminum cans and other random metals.

Did some slab flattening early this AM. This is just the rough cut with router but looking good already.

The farmer that owns the field across the road brought me a bunch of sweet corn. He also told me where more sweet corn was planted about 10 days after this stuff and to help myself. Love my neighbors!

Decided I didn't want to give up any more thickness so I fired up the belt sander and got rid of the router marks. Put a quick coat of poly on so I could see what I was working with better. I'll eventually sand it back off, fill all the imperfections with epoxy, sand to 400, apply hard wax finish, and then do final assembly.

    Mocked up in position:

    Weekend is here.

My finger tips are purple from all the walnut sawdust / poly / expoxy over the past few days.

Big storm rolled through early last night. My good friends son in law owns a local bar. Got the call to bring saws, gas, oil, and ropes. Big Maple laying all over the roof. Got it all cut off last night and just got 2 big tarps covering the holes fastened down. Had to run 2x6 lumber on the dining room ceiling to keep some drywall from falling down until the insurance adjuster gets there. Time to slack now.

You are a good man for helping out. That must have been very unnerving to the bar owner.

Funniest part was that bar never lost power. People still in there drinking while I was on the roof with my ported 562XP. Just another Friday night in Beaver County.

Odd thing to see in September: A turkey hen with 4 poults walking thru the yard. About 1/4 to 1/3 the size of the hen with down feathers still on the heads and necks. I've read this isn't terribly uncommon and it can happen if the hen loses its first brood. I've seen the coyotes here hunting and snagging them up right quick so I guess it isn't so surprising. Just odd to see. Usually by now the young ones are 3/4 to almost full size.

It was just part of the slab. I decided to leave it for character and to get power cords up from underneath.
