Went by Tractor Supply last weekend and saw pellets were $315/ton. That's a bit cheaper than last year. Looked online and it looked like $300/ton at Home Depot. I gambled at the end of last season and got 4 tons of pellets on sale from HD for $329/ton. that was only $20 off per ton from the regular price. I had a 10% off coupon so that helped more. By the time I paid for delivery, I paid $316/ton. Dang, if I'd waited and paid the $300/ton they are at now, used the 10% coupon (which I have one currently) and paid delivery, I only would have paid $1214. AND they could have dropped them in the driveway instead of out in the yard, so they would have been easier to move into the gargae. Oh well, you win some and you lose some.
What brand at HD? Very tempting, even though I'm pretty stocked. It's killing me seeing 385+ at most pellet yards.
I think they were Green Supremes. I couldn’t get a good look; the cover was pretty tight to the stack. I did see the typical GS green on the part of the bag I was able to expose.
Anybody have any experience with Logik-e softwood pellets? I only burned a few bags of green supremes last year. Don’t really have anything to compare them to but felt they produced a lot of ash…
I bought 10 bags a couple of years ago when I had a coupon for Aubuchon's AND, they sold 10 bags or more for the same price as the pallet price (anything under 10 bags was something stupid like $8/bag. BUT, I haven't burned any of them. They keep getting buried in my stacks. Same situation with the Orford's I got that same year.
Well wasn't much going on today so I decided to spend some of it on this seasons pellet fuel. 2 ton at 329.00. The Mrs helped me load it in the basement so we can cross that of the list of winter prep. Probly could have gotten some cheaper at a box store but I despise them and try my best to avoid giving them my money even if I cost me a bit more. Unfortunately one of the pallets had some(7) bag the got wet. I didn’t notice until I unwrapped them. Somewhat frustrating as the place that I bought them from is a bit of a ride in a direction I pretty much never travel. Thankfully when I called they said “ that happens, bring them back and we will swap them out”.
Update I brought the bags back and the manager who wasn’t there at the time of the purchase was more than happy to swap them out, even carried them to the truck. Aubuchon hardware in Winchester NH rocks.
We were in Keene, NH yesterday morning. The Depot had quite a few tons out front: They had some bags inside the garden center:
Those pallets look odd to me, very skinny on one side so I'm having a hard time trying to do the math. In one direction seem to be 17 pallets, but the other direction confuses me - LOL.
The second pic I took of all the pallets was on a wide angle setting with my phone. It probably distorted things a bit!
Yeah for the time being I’m going with the GSplus at 6$ a bag and see how they burn . I did some quick research and it said 90 percent hardwood and 10 percent softwood?
