What was going on with the emergency vehicles?

Put some new pegs on my DRZ today, after riding in the morning. If they would have showed up yesterday I coulf have tried them out. Install was pretty simple, about 20-25 minutes. Tools needed were needle nose pliers, ball peen, channel locks, 8mm allen to temporarily remove rear brake lever.

Old were just a couple ounces lighter.

Looks like them will really help spread the load across more of your boot sole and look so much better.

I see i should've explained that picture a little better. So the orv tail crosses the road right there. I could see they had the gator out. My best guess is someone had an accident on the trail and that was the closest access point to help em.

You my friend are doing it right! The quiet desolation and a dirtbike is good for the soul.

Just visited NW Michigan - Manistee National Forest area and I see there are hundreds of miles of available offroad trails. No dirtbike (although I did pick up a nice firewood scout unit while I was there) I typically find myself going to WV for riding trips but MI is looking promising.

How did you manage with the mosquitos? They were the worst I've ever experienced where we were east of Ludington. Soaked myself head to toe with deep woods Off and they still but me up something fierce.

Something about the adventure, the danger, the peace and quiet, and the challenge that makes these trips

Firewood scouting unit I bought in MI. Tons of fun.

    Also my KTM 500

Hey, glad to hear you've been to northern Michigan. I've rode in Manistee forest a few times. More specifically the baldwin area, trails include little Manistee, Lincoln hills, and Tin cup. That area was pretty sweet 10+ years ago but it's now been taken over by sxs. Single track is ok but REALLY whooped out the last time i was on them.

WV sounds like a good time. I have a dirt bike buddy in eastern TN that i go visit often. Whole nother world down there compared to MI.

Sweet little 3 wheeler and 500. Obviously you've seen I'm a ktm guy too. Started on a Honda but not sure I'd go back now.

As for mosquitoes, i must've gotten up there before they really hatched out cause it wasn't bad at all. I remember thinking that while there.

SXS's have ruined most trail systems now...

Did a Tennessee trip this last weekend for labor day. Made it a long weekend and got 4 days of riding in for a total of 107 miles. Only rained one day, Sunday, but we didn't let that stop us! Gonna have to take a few more pictures next time.

Here's trail 15 at windrock park. It's a double diamond, red trail. We followed this green sxs to the top. Heres the start from the main road.

    image000002(1).jpg

This is looking back down the trail from where we were in the next picture.

    image000001(3).jpg

Waiting our turn for the last little bit.

    image000000(2).jpg

Me going thru where that sxs just was.

    image000002.jpg

About 10ft from the top and the last little obstacle....

    image000003.jpg

It got me but wasn't too far of a fall.

    image000004.jpg

Here's the rain day. Didn't get many pictures. Riding in a dried up creek.

Loaded up on the last day.

Was my favorite part of the video too. Lol.

Truthfully, i knew there were quite a few people watching and didn't want someone running down to try and help.

Today was the fall Slimey Crud Run near Madison WI. I usually go to Pine Bluff just to see like 700 bikes.

I would not want to tour on this seat:

Quite the ingenious fuel gauge on this AMF Harley:

The guy standing next to this 47 Harley told me this is “a money pit”

I get off on seeing old bikes. My son and a buddy went with only a 120 mile day. Beautiful weather here.

Made a trip up to Evart this past Saturday. It's supposed to be one of the most difficult single track trails here in Michigan.

It's about 25 miles to make a full loop and i had planned on doing it twice, so i took the enclosed trailer and packed stuff to stay overnight. It's about a 3 hour drive back home and after putting in about 50 miles, i knew it wouldn't be a fun drive. If i was a rich guy I'd just get a hotel room but I'm not. Put in 52 miles total for the day.

The ride up was pretty with the changing colors.

At the trailhead. In between rides. Took about a 2 hour break and got a bite to eat.
    20241019_152813.jpg

Bike eater of a hole there in the middle. Was about 2ft deep. Right up to the bottom of the air box. Luckily was able to get it out but needed a break after that struggle. Hence the picture. Lol

Once i got done riding i loaded up and headed down the fire road into the state owned forest to find a camping spot. Not to far and there was a decent pull off.

Set up to make dinner and crash out after.
    20241019_194927.jpg

Took a ride down to the trailhead in the am to use the facility and snapped a couple pictures of the color around sunrise.

    Jeff,
    what a beautiful spot!
looks like the ride was good too!

I smashed my first mirror today. Well, bent it backwards anyway.....
we were in a lane merge, her lane ended, mine continued, she moved right into my lane, apparently her mirror wasn't reflecting properly for her to see me.
I backed off, then came up alongside and pushed her mirror forward.
Had I been wearing full leather gloves, I would have done it with enough force to fully adjust the glass.
In almost 12,000 miles this year, I've only had one other time where adjusting someone's mirror should have happened (but didn't).

I've owned the Ducati since 2018. Handles like a sportbike but it's a sit-up, comfy riding position. I love it. Took it to US129 a few years ago and slayed the dragon fully loaded with gear and my wife. Ground a bunch off the center stand in the curves.
