Not going out today for anything. Way too hot and humid. I went out yesterday for about an hour and a half. When I got home I couldn't hardly breathe. Even the inhalers didn't seem to help. Even my dog comes right back in after doing his mission outside. I ordered my pellets today. I'm getting them in 20 lb bags. A lot more money but I stand a better chance of being able to get them into the stove.

I got an email last week from Woodpellets.com saying they had a limited supply of Cleanfire softwood in 20 lb bags. $460/1.02 ton, 105 bags.

Last weekend I forgot to provide proof I actually did get all 4 tons into the garage (lifting each bag twice, that is 8 tons handled). Had 3 "broken" bags out of all of them, each bag on a different skid:

    • 1 was broken by me in the truck,
    • one was broken by a forklift and was evident even before taking the plastic off that skid. The interesting thing is that nothing clumped even after sitting in the yard for months. Everything that was already falling out of the bag was sawdust naturally. But, I was able to save a lot of it although what was in the skid/on the ground stayed there (as you can see in the clean up picture
    • one was bagged wet and about 1/3 of it clumped (these are hardwoods and come in bags that don't have holes).
Skid to the far right is oversized and holds 6 bags per row. The other two skids are regular 5-bag-row skids

That boomer we got mid day yesterday was a doozy! We only got clipped with the edge, But 20 miles north of me was a wow! Trees down and power lines. Wrecked a few airplanes at the puddle jumper Simsbury airport. What a mess!

$400 a ton delivered. Energex. When I say delivered I mean they put them right where I want them so I don't have to move them again.
That is the way it is here. Just three miles north, the chimney of the old courthouse got blown over and went through the roof damaged a lot of the offices in the building.

    Just checking in.
July and now August has been hot for the most part.
A bit of rain back on July 21 and 29
Nice change and cleared the air a bit.....
August has been quite warm .....Temps in the 90's F
May see some rain in a week or so....
Had a fire in the small stove during the little rain in late July....
Have not felt great all summer....Been slacking a lot.....

Starting to think about fall and shell runs.......

I need to repair or replace the magnetic lights we use on the trailer....They are old and the wire harness is getting pretty sad....Many places taped up......

The heavy ratchet straps we use to hold the dumpster on the trailer are showing their age too and need to be replaced......

    Arrrrrrgh

My age is starting to get in the way of things.....
    Ah well.......

    Hope Y'all are doing OK
    Be safe

    Hello
Just working in the shop last week and did an Auger and Auger bushing replacement to a U.S. Stove Ashley 5660 because the bushing was stuck to the auger and turning with the auger!! That caused a pellet jam which broke the hitch pin and started ripping the auger hole!
Tractor Supply sold thousands of these stoves!

    See video and pics here!!

Makes me chuckle when you kids talk about age! The thing about age, it makes you think and work smarter and decide what are your real priorities. Sometimes there are behaviors and wants that need to be traded in for some new ones. This isn't a change of desires, it is a change in necessities.

Technically I'm still a spring chicken, but don't feel like it some days. Stenosis has its way of making me feel 80+ some days and my true age the next.

Some days I feel like I'm in my 50's and other days I feel like I'm in my 60's (I am). I definitely am lazier than when I was in my 50's. Some days I look back on FB memories to all the chit I got done on my house, in a relatively short amount of time, and can't imagine how I would do it all if I had to now.

Of course necessity tends to make us able to do more than we normally would. At this point it is just non-urgent things that I should get done, so they are easy to put off.
