I rounded out the day grilling some burgers in the rain. I think Friday was national cheeseburger day or something...

Cheeseburgers on the grill sound good. We haven't had those in a while. Now I'm going to ask the wife to cook them for us next weekend!

I need to get things going in the wood burning area, hopefully have our first fire in the first week of October.

We did the same last night. The rain stopped and we made up some cheeseburgers and ate on the covered porch for the last time this summer. This time next week there will be 2 cords taking up residence on the porch.

When we put the new fence up a couple years ago I only had time to get a coat of penetrating oil primer and one coat of white stain on it before it got too cold. Every year I say I'm going to do the second coat... finally got to it.... Just one quick coat with the big stain brush, didn't bother to do inside the spokes, etc but it looks pretty good from 10 feet.

When I was done the mailbox and lamp post looked a bit dull so I gave them a coat as well even thought they dont strictly need it.

Now I just need to touch up and reinstall the iron gate hardware.

And while I was at it, the firepit was looking pretty rusty so I gave it a quick brush with the leftover can of Rutland black from last years woodstove rebuild.

I'm feeling for you on the fence JH, it's a great looking fence BUT I'm not sure I would hand paint that with a brush.
    Sprayer maybe??

Which works just fine for me. I had a little bit of panic going on last week with the cold hanging around for a few days.
I'm still stoveless and if I can pick it up this week I should have it installed by the weekend.

If I had a latex spraying setup I might give that some serious thought, but I dont. Painting that bas#(*&%$# sucked the first time around. This time I just did a quick over... honestly the whole thing took about 2 hours. It goes fast with the big thick 4inch siding stain brush.

In retrospect a painting mit so you oculd dip your hand in the bucket and wipe the spokes down might go even faster. next time.

Getting medieval on the yard weeds tonight. Stout batch of 2,4-D and dicamba in the trailer sprayer. Stout beer for the operator.

Start prepping for drywall crew the rest of the week....getting the ceiling redone in the living room and hall to match the new stuff in the dining room and kitchen.

Time to enjoy some time working outside in some nice weather the next few days. Some splitting/loading/unloading firewood. Some tractor/loader work tomorrow afternoon as well. Possible a little grass cutting as well. Next two days will be full of getting stuff done. I hope!

Take the good weather when you can get it. Heck, I'd even take some crappy weather sometimes, just to be outdoors
