Altho I think it’s heresy to burn Propah DDB BL in a fire pit, if the fire is well established or a deep bed of coals awaits, only then can the prized overnight BL be added, without much stank.
Not in the central Cariboo there ain’t. My brother found these ones in Addis Ababa two winters ago. He was working for the United Nations spraying for them.
Split and stacked the rest of the rounds. Had the bark stayed on it wouldve been close to a cord. Roughly ten heaping wheelbarrow fulls of bark disposed of. A couple logs to noodle and all the shorts to process yet.
great score. that is definitely a big one. I see them that big kinda often around here in NY but not really up for grabs like this. Are you planning to sell it or just use it for yourself? I've been burning some this season along with shagbark and i think the BL coals up better than the hickory. Overnight burn with hickory and BL easily goes 12 hours in my stove. The other night I packed it with ash and BL before bed, went to work in the AM and couldn't reload until I got home at 4pm. 20 hours and there was still enough coal to relight on.
It will get sold probably 24-25 burning season. This was a luck of the draw find on FBM and i pounced on it. Smaller fresh cut green BL i leave the bark on.
Brad your pics at the beginning of this thread show a Ford just begging for a flatbed. Maybe even some heavier springs and an airbag kit for the rear suspension too. C'mon man it's been a good truck, do the mods. You be Styling hauling 1.5 cords of beautiful Black Locust.
I appreciate the pep talk but I'll have owned it for seven years on Halloween and its treated me very well as is. Hoping to get another 2-3 years out of it. As I've stated in the past if I had unlimited (so to speak) wood storage I'd consider a bigger truck and/or a trailer even have loads dropped off.
