Hey yall been super busy lately so haven’t been able to get to scrounge wood very much but somebody messaged me and asked me to take all these logs outta their shed as they wanted to store their motorcycle in there and their wife would not let them burn the wood at all inside or outside as she does not like the smell . Anyway I went and grabbed the logs and apparently they’ve been in his shed the last couple years and they are definitely dry. I’m thinking it’s some type of birch.[IMG]

You’re correct on the birch; that particular variety is gray birch. It’s a common yard tree and pioneering species in the wild. I scrounged some for the first time this spring so I can’t say much about it as firewood as of yet.

Yup birch of some sort. Good stuff there. Split it up and check the moisture content. Maybe ready for the upcoming season.

Nice to get those type of phone calls!:tree:

    Giddyup!

If some of those have wood rot all the way through the round, I'd save a couple to place vertical on a campfire. Nice burning chimney effect.

Sweet! Looks like he hired someone to cut that birch so you have several lengths. You even have some that will make great Swedish candles! Please let us know if you enjoy some of those candles along with some pictures.
