C'mon up and bring the 394. May need the 42" bar to take her down. I've only felled a tree once with the 36" bar and it was a full canopy dead white oak.
I’d love to get after some wood but the rains here keep me from doing almost anything. It’s gonna take 2 weeks of sun to get my yard to a point I can drive on it. Living vicariously through posts here for now.
Cant say that I have. I did it to this bartop years ago. Was for a wedding and they wanted it to look old. Didn’t take any pics of the top for effect after treating but the last pic is after I did one coat. I think if you do it enough it will turn blackish and I didn’t want that. Light grey was good enough.
Hauled the splitter there again and processed last weekends cut. Separated out heartwood and left on site (forgot to take pics) and brought another half cord back and stacked in my friends shed. Before and after. Stacked to (literally) and into the rafters! Ill be back next weekend to buck and move the remaining logs. Cord for him and there's maybe a face cord of heartwood splits there.
Havent been back here as there was no rush. Got most of it out and staged for splitting. Need log roller and bigger saw for the rest
I've thought if that for bundle wood and have done it in the past. The bark on will get split normal sized and go in my friends shed. He has got a cord so far. In the third pic you can see the stack of heartwood splits I left there on purpose...sort of. I have no rack for them yet and they really cook in full sun right there. Getting a good head start on drying. I have a customer for the heartwood so it will be for 25-26. Im still debating on taking the spar or not. The way I feel now its NO, but in the cooler weather I may change my mind. Has to be at least a couple face cord in it.
Got the last of the rounds out of the woods and up to the driveway. Stack of heartwood splits far left. Brought all the nuggets home and processed. Topped off a half cord nugget bin of multi year drying woods. Shagbark hickory and honey locust the balance. Next trip I'll bring the hydro and split.
Loaded all the heartwood splits, brought to storage and stacked. (before and after rack pics) Wood there still to split. I may go next weekend and split it all
Brought the hydro over and split what was left there. Been waiting for the ground to dry so I can access my friends shed to stack. Stacked half the load as I ran out of time. Just the heartwood splits left to retrieve at the score. Over two cords for the score. My friend got close to a cord and a half. At least a couple face cord of heartwood for me.
Pulled the rest of the heartwood splits and stacked. The second row. Front row is some BL. Over two cords total for the score. Thanked him and asked if he was all done taking trees down to which he said yes. He'll put the word out for me looking for free wood.
Talk about a great score! Even if it is oak Bet it felt good to finally wrap up that score. Enjoyed following this one
Yes it did. One thing I kinda hate is having a score in limbo, on pause due to other higher priority scores. He was really cool about there being no rush. He just hated to see it go to waste. Plus it had some nice drying conditions on the pavement...getting full sun and its a windy area too.
