Critters in the stacks

Saw my first two snakes in the stacks today. Harmless garter snakes. Second one I was able to grab for pics.
Selfie came out blurry. Snake gave me a raspberry!
I put it back in the stack, unharmed.

 

Not in the stacks, but under the splitter tarp. Yes I did jump!

 

I saw one the other day on one of my stacks sunning himself, but he was gone before I could get a pic. I don’t mind having them around as long as I don’t have to touch them

 

Yeah they don't really like being picked up!

Last time there was a bear on/at wood pile was in the 90's.

 

Amazing how fast those ugly fledglings grow into adults.

 

For sure! Look how long it takes humans....and some never grow into adulthood!!!

I uncovered the hydro yesterday and a mouse jumps off. There was a critter nesting in the splitter. I had left the half round split under the tarp.
Moved the tarp off today and see a "worm" moving fast along the ground. Turned out to be a baby garter snake. Cute lil' feller.

 

Your thumb healed up real nice, brother! See what I did there with the smiley? Sorry....did it again!

 

LOL! Still numb at the tip. Dexterity not what it was. It gets stuck when I try to pick my nose!
