An attempt was made yesterday evening to take the life of a candidate for the presidency of the USA. I was in attendance at a Mass given by a foreign priest and didn't understand what he was trying to tell us due to the language barrier. Got the news from the radio after services. Don't know why this hasn't been posted on the open forums.
I thought we were a better country. Apparently not. We need to be better. Prayers for those injured and killed, and for their families.
Not getting political but when you turn on main stream media and social media that's all you hear 24/7 is hate filled rhetoric from BOTH sides................Hate filled rhetoric manifests in action. Truly praying our country can come together and put differences aside, life is more valuable and important.
This has been brewing for a long, long time. I really hope what happens next is not more escalation, retaliation, etc. Once blood gets shed in a hyper-polarized atmosphere, all bets are off.
I’m glad I live in a camper in the middle of the woods off-grid and 100 miles from any major metropolitan area
I miss the time when you could have political differences with someone and have a normal conversation. At the end both agree that they will disagree. Then go have a beer and pizza and not talk about it again. I've lost a great friendship because my buddy's wife will make EVERYTHING political. You couldn't even listen to a certain band because the presidential candidate used one of their songs to campaign. She is off the rails and I couldn't stand to be around it anymore.
Not being political here & not directing this at any particular party. It’s much bigger than that in my opinion. I believe the establishment wants to keeps us fighting with each other to distract us from what they are doing to our country & it’s people.
I saw this reported right after it happened last night. Absolutely unacceptable. Disgusting and horrible. Shameful. Reminds me of January 6th. Also absolutely unacceptable. Disgusting and horrible. Shameful. We have been through this type of thing before, and got through it. We must make sure we get through it now and in the future. By remembering to be compassionate toward each other. The media wants its ratings. The more dramatic they are with there “reporting” and “opinions”, the more watchers they get. Ratings bring in advertising money. Their business model succeeds. Let’s not let them lead us down the wrong path. Family and friendships are better!
We used to have something called the fairness doctrine which was rolled back in the 1980’s. I think it needs to come back.
Isn't Sky News owned by Rupert Murdoch? They seem to have their own bias, whether you agree with it or not, since we are discussing honesty, where is the link to the latest attempt? I'm middle of the road fwiw. Which is not easy these days.
If you’re going to justify multiple assassination attempts by bringing up who owns a particular news outlet, then I have nothing constructive to say to you.
I just didn't see the super secret attempt that no one else reported on, from a news source I never heard of when I went looking for it. How you got that I'm justifying anything is beyond me. I have nothing left to say either. Unless you can show me where I'm justifying anything. GRRRRRRRRRRR. Better yet just show me because I am interested and don't condone any of that. Sorry for you.
So, a few things here. At the time of my original post about the third attempt, information was sparse. SkyNews is a fairly large (and yes, conservative) outlet that covers all sorts of world affairs, including US politics. I don’t follow them much, but I just happened to see a segment from them pop up in my news feed that day. To my knowledge, an armed person was apprehended near one of his rallies. At the time it sounded like another attempt. In the days afterwards his campaign released a statement saying they didn’t consider it another attempt though. So I was mistaken at the time. Why you brought up Rupert Murdoch is beyond me though. As if anything from one of his outlets is automatically untrue? The bigger picture: we all live in our own media bubbles. If you were to borrow my phone and go on my YouTube app you’d probably be lost and wondering who The Federalist and the Epoch Times are, and why are they so “biased”. Likewise, I’d be quite turned off by MSNBC and the Young Turks, or whatever it is you trust and consume. Back when the first attempt happened, CNN reported that he had “fallen down” Really?!?! That speaks volumes for the state of corporate media today. According to Gallup, trust in the mainstream media is at an all time low, and that goes across the political spectrum (one side still trusts it more than the other though) Anyway, sorry for misconstruing what you said earlier. We’re all consuming the same CIA funded garbage at the end of the day anyway, trying to find some shred of truth within the propaganda. Operation Mockingbird - Wikipedia
Personally, I have completely lost all faith in the media, and medical profession. I don’t think that many of either have much credibility anymore. Doug
