Out for a quick jog this AM, found this laying on the road. Headed back shortly! Looked like a bit of Cherry and maybe Tree of Heaven? What you guys think?
If it's blackfum, 99.9% + of folks will advise you to run the other way. The remaining >.1% have burned up all their snowballs and toilet paper rolls. Some of the lighter colored stuff looks like ash to me. And the darker looks like it could be some kind of red oak. But many times I find it hard to tell from pics.
Here's a shot of some of other trees in the area with leaves on. Maybe I won't rush out to grab after all, lol!
Ash looking wood is black gum on the left and front and red maple on the right. Grab the red maple. Take a piece of the gum and try hand splitting and report back! Jogging in this humidity??? Your a brave man Chuck!
Take everything that you won't need to split, even the hard-to-split stuff, that doesn't need to be split. The above comment was provided by the Department of Redundancy Department.
Yeah it wasn't fun I have to get it in, keep the weight down.......... I think I'll go back after that red maple if it's still there.
