Our son had to sell his place as part of their divorce agreement, he is moving back to our home place, buying 5 acres from my sister.
The deal closes June 28th, so this past Friday we started moving the big outside pieces he was keeping.
I tried to pick up his small building Thursday evening with straps, but cramped the metal on the sides. Came up with plan B.
Made some fork extensions from tubing we had. 31608.jpeg
And fastened a 7' 2x6 across the end to catch the floor joist... 31617.jpeg 31612.jpeg
Picked it up fine now 31614.jpeg
Set it on blocks on the trailer and went down the road... 31618.jpeg
Next up was a 10x20 kennel he was using for his chickens...I slid 2x6x12 thru the tubing and went under the bottom pipe 31620.jpeg
Laid 3 more 2x6's across trailer to catch it... 31628.jpeg
Then it was time for the antenna pole that thankfully never got put up and the swing set...
Spread the forks wide and maneuvered around the yard 31632.jpeg
Made some riser blocks to hole the pole... 31630.jpeg
Set the swing set on the trailer 31634.jpeg
    Ready for another trip
    31638.jpeg
Here's another reason to wear gloves when cleaning up yard debris... 31637.jpeg
Black scorpions...he only lives maybe 3-4 miles from us, never seen any scorpions at our place, but from his place north, I've seen several...

A few smaller items this week will have the task completed

I like your fork extension idea. I'll have to keep my eyes out for scrap rectangular stock! Good on you for helping your son out. It will be good for him to move onto the old homestead.

As my mom told me when I went thru that with my 1st wife...she said..."I'm sorry you're hurting, but glad she's gone"...
She was a control freak, he had gotten so miserable. We never got to keep our grandson, maybe a 2 hr visit every few weeks, then she was ready to go...
Looking for him to have a brighter future

Sounds like it was a blessing in disguise. Might take a few for him to see it that way.

    Good choices T.Jeff Veal
I’ve told my daughter I will put main house in trust for her future grandchildren; build a 1 level on back 5 acres.. My idea of a great retirement is watching future grandchildren wreck the lawn with dirt bikes and wheelers I help them earn :D

It took him 7 yrs to figure it out, he just wants to move on and build a future. Glad we get to see our grandson more now, too.

We’d do darn near anything for our kids. Glad to see he’ll be close. That’s one of the things I hope for, neither of mine to move long distances away.

I couldn’t agree more with Lyle. That would be a dream come true.

I swear you are the workingist man on this board. You heard that right Mr. "Perfect Wood" if you're reading this thread..

Glad you could help your son. Hopefully he knows what a lucky guy he is to have an awesome father!

If you have to move a garage, I have some ideas for you. We moved one 5 miles on the back of a flatdeck. The truck was in the garage while we moved it.

Uummm, wow! That is an awesome discount, especially if it's just a superficial, appearance dent!

We got the water heater installed and new plumbing ran Wednesday evening after work. Since we moved it upstairs, we put a drain pan under it, also needed a new kitchen sink faucet. We ran new lines in the basement, bypassed all the old metal pipes.
    Going to the sink...

We finished about 12:45AM, he said he needed to stay up that night...lol...
It was fun working with him, saved us :emptywallet::emptywallet:and he gained a bit more experience. Turned water on the next day...no leaks...:thumbs:
