As in red oak felled last September. Mrs MikeInMa found an opportunity in FBM, that was a few miles away here in town. There's a yard stick on the bottom log. Diameter of thickest is about 18in. The 350 was easily the tool of choice for bucking and noodling. After a tank of fuel. I noticed a metal stain. Sure hope I don't hit the My buddy, Truckaa will help move a load, 1st thing Tuesday morning.
The homeowner decided to deliver what I had processed earlier this morning. I'll go back tomorrow to buck and split/noodle some more. Then have Truckaa help move it, if he's available.
Motivated. He's prepping the property to sell it. A couple hours at a time, is about my limit. Sure wished there were clouds. I'd have cut/split longer. I told them Saturday that I'd do what I could, and for how many days, just to set expectations.
Nice score Mike! Decent size but not overwhelming. Other than the tangle looks like pretty easy working conditions on site. Good on Mr.Bill for helping you out, just be patient if he uses the log tongs!
You might be a wood hoarder if... ...your wife searches FBM for wood scores! Hats off to Mrs. MikeInMa
I went back this morning. To my surprise, the homeowner was indeed motivated. He had cut the wood into rounds. As when I got there. Compare it to the 4th picture in my 1st post. There were multiple logs on either side of the brush pile that were reduced to rounds, and piled up. So I went at it. 1st bucking 7 rounds from the one remaining log. Then on to noodling, splitting, and arranging. It was a nice morning with clouds. Then they burned off and the sun was hot. The plan remains for Truckaa and I to go there early Thursday morning and move as much as we can. There's more than 1 truck load there, including several rounds needing to be broken down. My 350 seemed to have been a victim. It stopped running on its own and won't start back up. I'll let it sit for a bit and try again. Worse case is I take it to my saw guy. I did have my 445, and a sharp chain. It did the last several bucks and some noodling. The 445 and 350 are rated fairly close, spec wise. They have the same numbers for chains. The 350 has an 18in bar. If need be, I can put the longer bar on the 445. Nice to have that flexibility. All my saws, 40, 435, 445, and 350, take the same chain, depending on bar length. Off for Aleve, a shower, and probably a nap.
With the assistance of Truckaa, another load was moved this morning. Guessing, 2/3 a cord There's another load to move. Including ~10 rounds needing to be noodled/split. That's not going to happen for a couple of weeks due to previous commitments.
Prior commitment meaning date with an air conditioner? I almost panicked this morning. Started off hot. Clouds rolled in though. Scary.
A few days on Cape Cod, in AC. Should be a decent weekend. Storm front seems to dissipate before getting to hyannis.
Nice short ride for you. Ex and I used to rent a house in Sandwich. Tiny little cottage right on the beach.
