I Stuck Some Corn Cobs in My Box

    Saved the cobs from all the corn we canned. They make pretty good fire starters if you get them good and dry.

    We used to do that all the time on the farm. Most of the corn cobs went into the wood cook stove. As kids, we used to also stick 3 chicken feathers in the end and they made great rockets. As for the outhouse, the Sears catalog worked better.

    Cobs are great kindling.I save them from feeding the squirrels & other critters.Ones that they leave on the trees instead of taking them off to their nests that is...Occasionally I find a couple in my or neighbors yard that they dropped on the way someplace.
