He was in his 30's, maybe 40? Guessing he just got divorced as he went from home ownership to renting and was selling stuff out of his storage unit. Had a push mower someone was coming to buy as well.
Maybe someday I can run a tank or two through your 029 to get a good feel for a ported saw. As I've stated in the past, I cant justify the investment as most of the time my cutting sessions are rarely more than two tanks of mix. If I was cutting all day at a log deck then yes porting is for me. I do own one Husky btw. I wont let it happen again!
It is my understanding the bar is heat treated at the edges like that and its normal. By forcing the saw with a dull chain he overheated the metal causing the paint to burn/melt off. I had the same question until someone here clarified that for me.
Collecting is such a politically correct term. Hoarding is more appropriate! I try not to browse for them, but old habits die hard. On several saws I removed the bar to make room so this one just blended into the pile. If she asks I'll tell her they're reproducing! If a steal of a deal comes along more than likely I would buy it if its not on my signature list. 200t, 362 661 etc. I do kinda miss my 036 pro. I did like that saw.
Idk about all that. Apparently the banter I was involved in is a trigger so I won't tell you you should send your 241 to Northern Michigan for porting or you should try other saw brands besides stihl because variety is the spice of life. Consider yourself not told.
LOL!!! Fair deal. As I'm sure you know my bugging you was all in fun. If I know the receiver of my teasing is good natured I'll keep it up in fun.
Congrats on finding one. 4 of them, XS543 XS7900 XS346 XS357 and one waiting on my XS241 it be done. Once you run a ported saw, stock just isn’t as fun…
