Would it be possible to catch the offender in action and then call animal control to come and pick him/her up? After having to pay the shelter to retrieve their dog it may encourage them to keep better control of it. I also recognize that you do have to maintain a relationship with the neighbors so taking this step might cause some friction, but better than shooting the poor mutt. Unfortunately it’s not a dog problem it’s a people problem:confused:. Hopefully you can get it sorted out soon!

Bird looks and acts like a dog toy and even ww will find out people be dammed now that the dog has discovered the self propelled fun toy likely too late to put the genie back in the lamp.

Very late in this conversation, but Holly years ago killed one of the neighbor's chickens. (on our property)

But we still felt bad about it and did discipline Holly.

Neighbor invites Holly over onto her property, (although I try to restrain that practice).. but she has not harmed any other chickens.

    So far.

She is a hunter, and I'm certain that I cannot change that. Not certain that I would try.

But I also have an A$$ neighbor that does little to constrain his dog from venturing onto our property and barking and confronting Holly or myself.

I actually brought out the shotgun and fired into the lower field to "let it know it was unwelcome" this year.

I'm tired of being nice and/or polite.

Jill is no longer here to curb my "baser tendencies".. and the neighbor has, I think, taken notice.

I'll control my animal, or put her down if necessary. But I will NOT let her be a nuisance, or a threat to others.

Thankfully I don't have to worry about it coming to that.

wildwest have they thought about ecollar training? If done properly, it is amazing training tool. I trained our lab with an ecollar for hunting and general obedience. He had a problem with breaking and wanting to chase rabbits and cats. I was worried he would run out on the street. I had to nick him pretty hard a few times before he learned.

My parents and sister said ecollars were mean, and whatever. I said thats BS. If I would go and just pick up the collar or remote he would get all excited and happy, because he knew we were going out or to train. It got to the point I would put the collar on him, but never turn it on. Though I never told him that.

    Same!

I watch some of those guys build small off grid cabins, they are so awesome, and do able build wise (at least for me and my skill set). Just way off grid, peace and quiet..........simple life.

For some reason and all of a sudden, 2 of my older hens and almost all of the new ones want to roost in the trees overnight. Ive been chasing them out of the tree and into the coop. Its a PITA!
