My boat loan docs were ups Next Day Aired to Clearwater Florida last week. They were to arrive by 10:30 am last Friday. Well, I actively tracked the package and it was in the UPS facility in Clearwater at like 6 am. Figured no problem with it just going a couple miles to the final address. Nope. No update after that until over the weekend when it showed delivery well be Tuesday am by 10:30 due to the holiday weekend.

In my 20+ years of using UPS for overnight stuff, I've only seen that happen one other time, and that other time the package was lost by UPS.

Now USPS y'all should sign up for " informed delivery " from USPS. It's free, .Informed Delivery® - Mail & Package Notifications | USPS
It shows you what you are getting in the mail, even packages that will be delivered in a few days. If you don't get a piece of mail they say that you're getting, you can click on that piece and mark it as not delivered and they'll go further to track it down for you.

I just checked again...its on the move, but still near Harrisbur PA...maybe slightly further away than last I looked!
When I ordered it I seen the estimated arrival date was next week, but I thought they were just being conservative, because when I order stuff from lower MI its usually 2-3 days ship time...guess I didn't realize that they had paid for this thing to get the USA scenic tour! I really wanted the part here this week so I can get this guys bike finished up and back to him...he's been chomping at the bit...and it has taken me a while, so I can't blame him I guess...I'm sure he doesn't want to hear the excuse that I'm waiting all week on the USPS to arrive the last part from only 300 miles away! :hair:

It's been a good week for getting rid of junk. I've hauled 3 loads of brush, and a fourth will go tomorrow afternoon after I get back from hauling the remains of my old fence and several weeks of household trash to town. I'll be bringing dad back with me and he'll help me cut up the pieces of trunk on the ground, and then fall the bare trunks that are still standing.

Been a pretty productive week off.

Tracking says its to be here today...1 week to go what should have been 300 miles! I think the old time Pony Express would have done better!

USPS. I've had many packages sent through them that have taken sot scenic tours. The best still was a DHL international box of pump seals from Asia that went to Alaska, then Seattle, then to Hawaii, then to WI.

We're up at Road America for the Superbike race weekend per our annual tradition. Yesterday was beautiful out. Today, the first race day there's a probability of some rain. We'll be covered by an ez up, but it's always interesting for the racers, because they still race in the rain on motorcycles.

Update: they showed up the next day and I just flat out told the crew boss to quit chipping all my firewood! he says it's got poison ivy all over it, I'm like, so?!
Told them to just drop these trees in the woods n be done! They did still chip some big stuff, but I think it was mainly because it was "limby" and fell in the yard. This was the white oaks that were still alive...the dead standing red oak (about half barkless) it looks like they dropped most of that in the woods n left it  the only bad part about that is the woods is pretty brushy there, but I managed to pull a load of branch wood out last night...this is all dead standing red oak, except for a couple chunks of white oak. TONS more there, literally, this load isn't even scratching the surface! IMG_20240601_104216539_HDR.jpg

What a beautiful little tree. I'll do my best to help it grow into a big tree.

Day 2 for superbikes race day 2 today. It rained from 11am-4pm yesterday. We stayed under the EZ up most of the time. Today looks to be 75° and sunny. Nice to get dry racing for the motorcycles. They are much faster and can ride much more aggressively which makes for better racing when it's dry.

Unfortunately, I think it's time for this to come down and be replaced. Hopefully someone does so before too long.

The house might be saveable, but looking through the missing eave trim, the rot seems to be spread fairly far into the roof structure. Looking at the shingles, one can only hope there's no other leaks. It's certainly a case of new shingles, siding, windows and doors, and some new rafters on at least the front end, and gut it to the bones inside.

It was a decent looking house in it's day, kinda different.

It's really handy for testing the tensile strength of everything you forgot to unhook when you're lifting the car up from the engine/trans.

They're a GREAT tool, I use that thing to wax cars.

It just needs the ball joints separated, the bolts pulled from the transmission cross member (they're just laying in there) and 4 bolts and it's all ready to come out.

Yes sir...116 HP for the Magna...V65 Sabre was 121 HP (due to some differences in air cleaner assembly/intake, and the exhaust system) Top speed of ~140 MPH and would run a low 11 second 1/4 mile...not bad for a mid 80's cruiser!
