Well, ordered a cheap set of carburetor adjustment tools, the screwdriver type, and got exactly what I paid for. Can anyone recommend a good quality set that they have had good luck with. I don't mind paying for good stuff.......if it is good stuff. Thanx in advance ya'll

For me, any little screwdriver will work as poorly as a snap on would, it's the screwball operating it that's the problem.
How a guy with only 2 basic adjustments and an idle screw can
F things up is beyond me, but I'm
    that guy!
In the last few years I've replaced 2 small engine carbs. One on a gas powered air compressor (honda) and the Kohler on the log splicer. To my surprise they both run better than they ever had. This is after years of me "adjusting" them.

    What happened?

I too have been interested in a quality 'Master Set'. Stens sells one that is priced higher than others, but unsure if quality is any better.

Son got a set off internet. HIPA which is Chinese but they work and as you’re not really putting any pressure on the tools as you would with a standard screw driver should last for quite a while. His is just for personal use and not for a shop so that might make a difference.

That's what I got. Cheap chinese junk is about all they are, but they are working thus far. If it were just a screwdriver, I have plenty of quality ones, but where in the world do you find a quality pacman driver:hair:

Some reason, my last reply didn't go thru. That's the set I have, just feels cheap. If you haven't had any problems, maybe I wont either. They just feel cheap. Fingers crossed:D

Of course they do, they are $12.88 delivered. My Snap-On lower unit drain plug screw driver cost $35. Carb screws are never as tight as an i/o or outboard lower unit check and fill plug.

I have a couple sets from HIPA. Have had one issue though not sure if it was the carburetor or the tool. The outer circumfrence of the driver was too large to fit into the 'well' where the H screw was. Had to whittle it down a bit to get it in there. Could have been the casting on the carb I suppose. Have an OEM Hoosky tool that fits and works perfectly. It's made differently than the HIPAs are...little more robust looking.

Must have been nice to only ever need a flat head to adjust with. I came along right at the end of that era.

How often are you guys adjusting carbs?
I have dozens of screw drivers; grinders/wire wheel and files copied buddy’s original tools. Not against buying cheap tools if occasional use.. they stay in the ammo box with scrench files etc

Look for a Wiha branded one. Super high quality tools.

I've been using the Amazon 12 piece kit for 5 years now. The only one that was useless was the micro D. I ended up getting an echo branded single for that through my nephews shop. I believe the average person can't buy the oem carb adjustment tools as we can't be trusted with them. Lol

I also have the Hipa set. They are very okay :zip: They don't feel like a great screwdriver but they get the job done.

I concur. Not great but get it done. I don't usually cheap out on tools but I couldn't find a quality kit when I was looking. The oem tools are sold separately and significantly more money if you can buy them.

I have developed a habit of getting old saws of all kinds and rebuilding them, hence the needing just about every different one out there. Have been able to use a flathead on all of them until I acquired a Craftsman. it has the spline screw.
