Seems one minute we're adding humidity and the next we're trying to take it away. 70% is a bit too sticky for me!!

Beautiful morning was had by Brodie and I on the back porch until the boomer forced us in. Brodog was enjoying chipmunk and squirrel watchin while I was enjoying the birds. No critters were harmed in our endeavor, Only thing killed was a cup of java and a fly that happened to stray too near the pup. Canine version of a venus fly trap!

Our squirrel baffles keep them critters on the ground. No bug dem feeders at all, Only scrounge the nuts which most of da birdies just kick out anyway. Brodie has a hoot of a time watching them. So we just coexist and they all get to enjoy while we enjoy watching.

Like I said before we have more of a "dumb bear" problem. He/she has been less of an issue since I painted her azz yellow with a few paint balls. He/She no likey and let out a yelp. about same yelp he/she made when the electric fence was touched. He/she gets past the fence, We invested in a trip wire blast device that should scare the chit out of it. All devices are none lethal as we can't harm them unless they pose an issue to the hens. Then the 20g or 30/30 led pill might be induced. But we'd rather coexist.

There is a Bird Watcher thread

I stopped feeding a couple of weeks ago. It attracts bears and the neighborhood bear has been sighted on the road behind me. But, there were two other reasons that I needed an excuse to break me from the habit of throwing seed out:

    1. Coming up soon I'll be gone for 5 days, so I don't like to cut the birds off suddenly (especially tough if fledglings get used to it)
    2. I was mainly feeding starlings, squirrels and pigeons at that point anyway.

In April I had a pair of red-bellied woodpeckers, hairy and downy woodpeckers and bluebirds. There were also a bunch of goldfinches, a couple of purple finches, some house finches, white-throated sparrows. For a while I had several cardinals, both male and female, and then it just a pair as they sorted out their territories. Same thing with robins - had several, which is not usual, now it is just Mr & Mrs (which is not the same Mrs from last year by the coloring - don't know about Mr). Also had a pair of mourning doves which I like to see (as opposed to the pigeons).

The cat birds didn't arrive until after I quit feeding, but I hear them around. I had some red-breasted grosbeaks show up after I quit feeding also, which is an oddity for me. I did not get the large flock of red-winged blackbirds that I normally get before they split up. I did see and hear a few though.

b is right about the bird watchers tread , my bird numbers are way down due to bird flu used to go through a lot of seed. Had two thistle seed feeders that were filled twice a day. I haven't seen the scarlet tanager in two seasons, My birds are once again showing up. You must know I've been using "squirrel" proof feeders for years yup proof not. Just to get jt.

Partakers 2 type chipmunk survived 0 pest eliminated 2 now for day 4.

Reminder that pizzed off mama bear may have babies not rabies.

Wife and I's plans were cancelled due to rain. Kind of a good thing as we are pooped from doing yard work. I got 4 loads of nice topsoil delivered and spread 3 of them before the rain came in. She was getting some new flowers planted and preparing the garden for planting after I tilled Saturday. So we used it as a relax, chill, nap day! :D
