We made a real push to have the woodsheds full for us and Mom before we left.

We did leave some work at Mom's for my brother to do. Moving some firewood down into the basement for the fall burning. He visits her about twice a year maybe more this summer while we are gone.

We celebrated Mom's 99th birthday while we stayed at Grand Forks, BC. It was nice to have so many of the family there. Our oldest daughter brought her out and my brother will be taking her home.

There's so much to see. No need to go stateside. I've done from Cape Breton to Detroit and missed a LOT.
Same here with the high school French.

My brother has a place on the Kettle River. Years ago he bought an older house, turned it 90 degrees, put a foundation under it, added to it and created a lovely home by the river.
This is his view from the yard and their balcony

It is all flood plane across the river so it is wildlife habitat.

We left there and headed east through Rossland and Trail. All mountain passes.

Trail, BC Big smelter operated here for years and still does. Many years ago the hills were barren of vegetation but new technology has allowed the vegetation to come back.

Before we were married, campinspecter worked for a few months in the smelter.

We continued east through the various passes through the Rocky Mountains

The passes follow the various rivers so there is a lot of cattle ranches in the valleys.

Driving through the mountains can surely be beautiful. Thank you for allowing us to see some pictures of the area. I would enjoy that drive; perhaps some day I will be able to do that.

Beautiful country. What kind of temperatures do you see in those spots this time of year? How warm does it get in summer?

Right now it has been quite nice at around 60 to 65 F in the daytime and down to 40 F in the evening. We just missed a really warm week in Grand Forks at 86 F.
In the summertime, this area gets pretty warm during the daytime - between 80 to 90 F, dropping down overnight. There hasn't been the snow pack buildup this winter so it could be quite warm this summer. I think the humidity isn't too bad here in the summer.

Those mountain shots are amazing and I bet they don't do them justice? Wow. Thanks for sharing the view.
