...... without putting the d### mower deck back down ? First time this year....only went about 100 or so feet ! Going around a full pass before realizing it.......thats a bad day lol Was distracted by the beautiful morning..thats my excuse.
Nice cut, but I don’t have a belly mower so I don’t have an answer. I’m always trying to figure out how to avoid having the brush hog cutting dirt, or the side panels pushing dirt.
It's kinda funny you post this. I literally did it yesterday. Here's my story. Mower ran outta gas in the middle of the yard and i had to go get some. In my defense i knew it was gonna run out and didnt have any gas on hand but figured I'd see how far it would go. Anyway.... got back from getting gas and filled the mower. This mowers tires leak a "little" but i can usually get the whole yard done before noticing. Well not today. So pull mower up to garage and aired up tires. Back out to mow and somehow i space cadetted it when i drove up to the spot where i left off and didn't let the deck down. Just drove on thru like i had been mowing. Made it to the first hard turn, about 60ft before i noticed. Was kinda wondering why it wasn't throwing much grass out the shoot. Well it's cause somebody was a dumb duck.
I've not gone far. I walk behind a lawn mower. So no deck to lift and drop with each use. I have had a wheel setting slip, resulting in a tiered look.
I had the opposite problem this year. My wife complained the #@#$$# mower wasn't mowing for @#$%. Checked out the mower, everything was working. Noticed the deck was set to the middle height. Oh yeah, I slowly realize, all the rain this year means the "lawn" is about two feet high! I apologized to the mower and changed its oil. Sorry ol' boy. Raised the deck all the way and finished the first mow of the season.
I showed a recently widowed lady how to use the riding mower a few years back. Then, I told her to jump on the mower and went through it again. Then, I told her to take a few laps around her yard. "OK, I've got it now!" she assured me. Two days later, she called and said, I cut grass for awhile and forgot to lower the deck! Well, you're not the first one and won't be the last to make that mistake was my reply....how much did you cut before you notice it? "Well, quite a bit" she said. No big, no deal.
opposite problem first mowing of the year got have the deck all the way up too dang deep , got about ten and stalled out, not mention a bit of blue smoke from the belts.
Didn't really miss it , as weather has not been particular conductive to mowing. One week things turning green then a snow storm and cold wet weather couple days pretty warm then back down to 40s and rain. mild stretch 50-60 more rain then a bit colder again and then it was like someone fed it steriods. Can't mow it when its soaking wet never clear out of deck. Need to break down and get a brush hog- rear discharge.
I've probably made it a round before noticing. But that's better than the summer help kid at work that would forget to turn the deck on...more than once! This poor kid had just graduated high school and apparently mommy n daddy had money, this kid had never had to do anything, therefore he didn't know how to do anything! You were back in the house when your wife said "I thought you mowed?!", am I right?
It happens to me when I need to transition across stuff I need the deck up for. (at least I remember to raise it lol) My zero turn has been sick. I gave my best efforts to make it well and failed (even called in an expert). She's off to the shop this coming week. Had to take an L. Can't wait to get it back as I've been mowing on a rider for a bit. The big 'Bota spoiled me in terms of grass chopping. Speed, comfort, cut quality.
I’ve done something similar, left the auto connect in the install position on the 2025R and scalped a good 20 feet of lawn. Noticed when the mower started to spit clumps of grass out from under the deck. It’s a mulching deck so that doesn’t usually happen.
If someone says they have never forgotten to reset deck height on mower or bush hog they might be a liar and are not to be trusted with important matters
